Leaving baby in hotel room

AvadaKedavra92 · 07/06/2019 16:39

So I'm on the ground floor of a hotel have a baby monitor, WIBU to take the video monitor to the bar/restaurant and get something to eat while she sleeps?

I'm not sure whether to do it or not, don't want to wake her up this evening for me to go eat. They don't offer room service.

This again?!

Thatsashame · 07/06/2019 16:39

Order a takeaway and ask reception to bring to your room?

ArchMemory · 07/06/2019 16:41

Personally I wouldn’t. I am sure the risk of anything happening is low but it’s not a risk I would take.

Cheby · 07/06/2019 16:41

YWBU. Get a takeaway. Don’t leave the baby alone.

Areyoufree · 07/06/2019 16:42

With a video monitor? I honestly don't see why not. You can actually see her, after all!

freshstartnewme · 07/06/2019 16:43

No. See other thread.

MorondelaFrontera · 07/06/2019 16:43

Of course don't.

Take your baby with you, like we all do.

dementedpixie · 07/06/2019 16:43

How far is the restaurant? Would the range even extend that far from the monitor?

AvadaKedavra92 · 07/06/2019 16:47

What other thread? I've not seen one.

@Areyoufree My thoughts exactly. I'm literally round the corner. You could unlock (it will of course be locked if I venture to the bar) the patio door of my hotel room - walk across the courtyard and you're there! I've already tested the monitor to make sure it reaches signal wise.

OP posts:
Hedgehogblues · 07/06/2019 16:48

How old is she?

Crunchymum · 07/06/2019 16:49

Is it just you and the baby?

What have you been doing previously to eat in the evening?

SmilingThroughIt · 07/06/2019 16:49

Yabvu and completely irresponsible if you do this. How can you even consider this. There are so many options - room service, ask staff to bring up something .
I really cant believe people like this exist.

giddyyup · 07/06/2019 16:50

Look what happened to Madeleine.

No!

AvadaKedavra92 · 07/06/2019 16:51

@dementedpixie yes I've already tested it.

Out of curiosity, what do you plan to do if there's a fire alert and you are unable to go back to your room?

HiJuice · 07/06/2019 16:52

Can't see an issue if room securely locked and monitor works. How is it different to baby being in a different room at home?
Mccann was different - not secure, no monitor, restaurant not that near

TheGoogleMum · 07/06/2019 16:52

Ooh tough one. Maybe with a video monitor? Not that much different to baby being upstairs at home? Unless I'm overlooking something... I don't think i would feel brave enough myself, especially as I watched the Madeline McCann documentary recently. Makes you a bit paranoid... in a hotel room thats locked feels safer than unlocked apartment up the road though

RuggerHug · 07/06/2019 16:53

You know if a fire alarm goes off you won't be allowed to your room to get your DD? You'll be evacuated out with everyone else in the bar/restaurant and you'll just have to hope to fuck the staff can get to her.

Just think about that and order room service.

Oysterbabe · 07/06/2019 16:55

Yabu. Eat early, get room service or get a babysitter.

AvadaKedavra92 · 07/06/2019 16:56

@Hedgehogblues 9 months

@Crunchymum yes just me and baby. I'm only in a hotel for tonight. Normally at home!

@SmilingThroughIt YABU for not reading my post properly, no room service available. As I have I said I'm round the corner and have a video monitor. I was just asking opinions - I haven't done it. No differnet to ger being upstairs at home and me in the sitting room.

@giddyyup I did think about Madeline, that's why I asked for people's opinions.

@MorondelaFrontera another reason why I posted! Things I hadn't thought of might come up. Thanks Smile

Personally I wouldn't, its not your house and you are not at home so it is different. If it was me (and was in the past) I would eat with the baby earlier or have roomservice or a takeaway in the room once the baby is asleep. Do you have a terrace with a table in the courtyard you could eat at? I found hotel baby sitters were brilliant as well and well worth the money spent for peace of mind

RuggerHug · 07/06/2019 16:58

Ok so no room service, take away!

AvadaKedavra92 · 07/06/2019 16:58

@Oysterbabe I would prefer to have her hear sleeping on her own where I can see on a monitor than a stranger looking after her.

I had considered eating early.

PotteringAlong · 07/06/2019 16:59

Yes, you would be unreasonable.
