Spitting in the toilet

Ragh · 07/06/2019 14:24

We're on holiday at the moment and our 3 year old has recently switched to bloody frozen toothpaste that requires spitting. Obviously at home we're well set up with a box for her to stand on as the sink is too high but haven't brought one with us.

I am happy to lift her to the sink to spit, even though this means our baby will be crawling around the bathroom floor.
DH wants her to spit in the toilet so he can hold the baby.
Both of us are grossed out by the other's method. Who is BU?

What the fuck is wrong with either method?

I see no problem with either lifting the child up to spit in the sink or with letting them spit toothpaste down the toilet.

I am terribly sorry that this is proving to be so traumatic and insurmountable for you.

Betty777 · 07/06/2019 17:39

This is possibly the weirdest question I've ever seen asked on here

NameChangeNugget · 07/06/2019 17:39

It’s such a shame Ban Ki-moon has retired

Honeybee85 · 07/06/2019 17:44

Why is spitting in the toilet such a problem?
What do you do when you are feeling sick and you have to throw up? Wouldn’t you use the toilet for that as well?
I even clip my toenails above the toilet Grin

kaytee87 · 07/06/2019 17:48

Who cares? You do it your way and he can do it his.

CitadelsofScience · 07/06/2019 17:52

😂 can I have your life please if this is the sum total of what you have to worry about.

I can't honestly see how a child putting its head over a loo to spit toothpaste is a big issue. Unless you're planning on shoving their head down in to the bowl so they don't miss and spit on the crawling baby

Deadringer · 07/06/2019 18:01

Sounds like a very exciting holiday.

eurochick · 07/06/2019 18:18

I can't believe the two of you managed to work out how your bits fit together in order to make these children...

MamaOfBothTeams · 07/06/2019 18:39

I skim read your post and thought you were suggesting that she take the baby into the bathroom for the older child to kneel on

Problem solved. Baby will be immobilised while older child can reach the sink!

Oops the bold didn't work Blush was laughing at what a Pp had said Blush

myhamster · 07/06/2019 18:44

This thread is hilarious. I second the idea of the toddler standing on the baby, thereby solving the problem.

Whatareyoutalkingabout · 07/06/2019 19:03

This is SO weird 😂 why would you make an entire family excursion to the bathroom so that you and your husband and baby can watch your daughter brush her teeth? Why would the baby have to crawl around the floor if you pick your daughter up? Can't one of you lift her and one of you just stay outside with the baby? Confused

SilverySurfer · 07/06/2019 19:06

Fret not, I have the solution!

Bonkers.

Mummyshark2019 · 07/06/2019 19:07

Had a few too many holiday margaritas OP?

WhereForArtThouBray · 07/06/2019 19:33

I second put the baby in the bath while you lift the toddler. Or if the bath and the sink are close together she can stand in the bath to spit?

Bettrr yet take her on the balcony and let her spit over the side into a drain on the ground . That should be enough distance to ensure no germs are splashed back up at her.

GummyGoddess · 07/06/2019 20:05

Is it not possible to hold them both? Baby in one arm, toddler in the other? I'm able to carry baby on hip and then toddler around the waist to let him take things off of shelves and my DC are pretty chunky.

Nooob · 07/06/2019 20:27

Would you rather roll around on a bathroom floor or spit in a toilet. Spitting in a toilet is not gross, rolling on a dirty floor is gross and potentially going to make you ill.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 07/06/2019 20:35

A reverse how? OP is actually the toothpaste?

Grin
Stinkycatbreath · 07/06/2019 20:46

I don't understand why your husband can only hold the baby if the other child spits in the toilet. Is one receptacle not the same as another?

Iwantacookie · 07/06/2019 20:53

Wow I normally spit my toothpaste in the sink as I thought was normalConfused

You dh is being a dick over this ltb

ShitAtScarbble · 07/06/2019 20:58

Are there any adults there to resolve this massive problem for you?

This comment wins the thread!

NCB2019 · 07/06/2019 21:37

I wouldn't want my child sitting into the loo because:

  1. They would probably accidentally drop their toothbrush down it

  2. They'd miss and it would go all over the seat

  3. They'd probably think it was really fun and would only ever want to brush their teeth over the toilet forever more

But maybe that's just my kids! Grin
