A driving one (with diagram)

Me and DP can’t agree on who has right of way in this scenario.

If you are joining a main road from a minor road (turning left) with another minor road directly opposite whereby a driver is turning right onto the main road (so you are both joining to go in the same direction), who has right of way? The car turning left or the car turning right?

Had this situation this morning and am not sure which driver was correct or if it’s a politeness/ manners thing rather than a rule.

If the diagram has attached, I’m the blue car (turning left from minor onto main)

Road was clear enough for left turn but not really for right turn IMO

The red car was an idiot. The blue car has right of way

The blue car as they are joining the flow of traffic whereas the red car has to cross a lane of traffic

I am the red car trying to get out of my street and it is a bit annoying when cars keep arriving on the opposite road to turn left as I have to wait for them to go as well.

I believe that to be the rules though and anything else would be madness.

I've always wondered this and I live v near a junction like this. But, in the same scenario, if blue car is going straight (crossing a line of traffic) and red car is turning right (also crossing line of traffic), is it whoever gets there first who goes first?

Blue has right of way. Unless red car has already pulled out.

I had this situation the other day and I wondered that too as both crossing same lines of traffic. The man in the big car clearly thought he had right of way in my situation too (right turner)

Thanks Sleeping (X post) - that's what I thought, but the right turner tried to turn at the same time and swore at me as he pulled across.

Should be blue car in the second scenario as the red would be cutting across their line of direction
