What schools have mixed sex changing rooms?

NameChangeNugget · 04/06/2019 21:21

Wouldn’t bother me

BrightYellowDaffodil · 04/06/2019 21:21

I think the issue is that
*A-sexual assaults increase when their is mixed facility’s

B-people with paedophilic minds gather we’re they can get to children in state of undress or vulnerability*

Aside from the appalling spelling, want to quote any peer reviewed studies for those quotes? Or are you just trying to whip up unsubstantiated hysteria?

Mixed changing rooms don’t bother me because I’m not a pearl-clutching hysteric.

CustardOmlet · 04/06/2019 21:24

@hinely and people tend to keep their underwear on when trying on clothes... I hope Envy (not envy!)

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 04/06/2019 21:25

No.

nzborn · 04/06/2019 21:25

And if your not sure that people who would harm children gather were children are then you need to have a read of the news in the last 50 years

Are the women saying they are ok with it, really saying that they are perfectly fine getting completely naked right next to a random man who is also getting completely naked?

Throckmorton · 04/06/2019 21:27

Mixed changing rooms don’t bother me because I’m not a pearl-clutching hysteric

So anyone who doesn't want to get changed in front of men due to having suffered assault or rape in the past is a pearl-clutching hysteric? Nice attitude you have there.

Hopenothate · 04/06/2019 21:28

What’s more, two thirds of all sexual attacks at leisure centres and public swimming pools take place in unisex changing rooms.

Of 134 complaints over 2017-2018, 120 reported incidents took place in gender-neutral changing rooms and just 14 were in single-sex changing areas.

In a further 46 cases, sexual assault allegations were made about attacks in other areas such as in the pool, in a sports hall or corridors.

Unisex facilities account for less than half the changing areas across the UK, but the number is on the rise -

A media article? You know, the sort of media that exists to sell papers and advertising and pander to fears and prejudices?

Hardly a peer reviewed scientific paper. But hey, if it suits your narrative...

Throckmorton · 04/06/2019 21:33

How about you provide a peer-reviewed article supporting your view BrightYellowDaffodil? Can you?

user1471449295 · 04/06/2019 21:34

No

managedmis · 04/06/2019 21:35

Not interested in any of this mixed sex business thanks

WitsEnding · 04/06/2019 21:35

My local pool has individual changing cubicles with lockable doors in a mixed -sex area. The area is covered by CCTV, is constantly busy and feels very safe. I'd be more worried in their car park after dark.

Heavy curtained unisex changing rooms are fairly common in shops - usually with a staff member at the entrance.

Heavy curtains are all very well if they meet the edge of the cubicle properly.

My DD was using a mixed sex changing room a few days ago when I realised that the curtain didn't close fully and the bloke standing in the next cubicle with the curtain open could see into hers via the mirror opposite. Yes, he was looking.

I stepped forward and held the curtain against the side of the cubicle for her after that.

Chesterwife · 04/06/2019 21:36

Absolutely fine... can’t see a problem.

Hopenothate · 04/06/2019 21:37

WitsEnding

May be this is the key mixed changing along with cctv that’s sounds ok to me but with locked cubicles not curtains 😂otherwise we would be giving the people viewing the cctv a show

My local pool has a “changing village” so mixed sex but all lockable cubicles. I much prefer it to an open female only changing room!

I think it’s better because parents can change with their opposite sex child without upsetting anyone for having them in the wrong changing room. It avoids any issues of anyone being in the “wrong” changing room. And it gives more privacy than single sex open plan ones.

I would never support open plan mixed sex changing rooms, but I don’t like single sex open plan ones either!

bumbleymummy · 04/06/2019 21:37

Our gym/pool already has this. You have individual cubicles/showers for changing but the rest of the locker area is all open. Not a big deal at all.

Sparklesocks · 04/06/2019 21:39

When I was at school we had single sex changing rooms, and nobody ever showered any as we didn’t have time between PE and the next class - and nobody wanted to be the weird girl that got naked!

Hopenothate · 04/06/2019 21:39

Goldmandra😳I would of said somthing how old is your dd

On a side note
My husband just said some men use the hair dryer to dry their balls in the men’s 😳 I googled this it’s a thing
