Hi all,

I live abroad and we’re considering possibly coming ‘Home’ within the next couple of years. Just being nosey really and wondering what your general weekends are like? What do you do etc? How is the uk to live these days and has anyone returned back there after being abroad?

A fair assessment dirtythree. Can i ask where you currently live please ?

@dirtythree you summed up a lot of we’ve observed so well 👆 I’ve even noticed friends I made here, who have gone back to live are very preoccupied with money, jobs etc etc..perfectly nice people but a lot of the depth has gone and there’s a huge competitive element 🤷‍♀️

I think life is pretty good in the UK right now. I hope it will stay that way.

We live in the Midlands, so we have easy access to lots of places and we spend many weekends on day trips - often London, but also many parts of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxford, Birmingham, Nottingham. When we're not doing that we go to festivals, art/cultural events, conventions, meet friends, eat out, shop, concentrate on hobbies. We are never bored because we live in a city with plenty going on and we try and do different things all the time.

I have asked DD many times if she would prefer to move somewhere warmer, but then we get one hot and sweaty day here and completely go off the idea.

Im currently in SE Asia. I dont know if moving back to the UK is the right move but i am sure staying in my current city is the wrong move so i guess anything is a step in the right direction. I want to be closer to my family but they are living in Scotland so its super grey and wet! I still cant decide if i should move back to my hometown or to another city. It's way harder/more stressful moving back to the UK than it ever was to leave it.

I'm in Scotland and between Brexit and the weather I'm ready to stowaway on an oil tanker to get out of here! [Big grin:]

I have a toddler and live in Devon. Saturdays are normally swimming lessons then the rest of time is spent doing stuff that needs to be done e.g. nipping to the supermarket and or going to the beach, countryside, park, seeing relatives, etc. When you have a toddler they like to run around so living near countryside/beach/park is good (apart from when the weather is crap)
