In asking if people think I should see a doctor?

I got bitten two days ago on the arm. I think. I was working outside and looked down and it was bleeding, I didn't catch or bash it that I know of.

It's been itching like hell ever since and now has swollen up and it got and hard.

Going to the doctor on a weekend will cost me a small fortune (not in the UK) and it's 2 hours each way (please whatever wait the ER will have.)

DH thinks it's nothing and I shouldn't be worried but he's no good bloody judge, he's one of these people that doesn't go to the doctor until he's half dead or a limb is falling off.

Pictures included. I'm assuming it was a spider bite as a red ant or similar would have hurt more at the time.

I will definitely finish the course. It's a small lump now! Amazing how quickly it disappeared.

Where I had the tdap has blown up and I can't move my arm! Fucks sake. We have people coming to stay tonight and I can't clean the bloody house! Or drive ds to school this morning. Argh! I must have had 10+ of these bloody shots and this has never happened! Angry

Tell your visitors about what has happened. I think you would have been in a hospital at least one night with this had you not had the distance / access issues, your visitors should understand!! Glad it's responded to the oral antibiotics.

Could be cellulitis. You need to go I'm afraid.

Oops sorry didn't see your post was a few days. Glad you got it checked out. And smug that I was correct in my diagnosis lol! Just call me Dr Minimum. 😂

You don't need more than 5 Dtaps in a lifetime or you end up with reactions like this unfortunately. Did the doctor not ask you how many you had had?

arganlady · 06/06/2019 12:46

@Strangerthanstrange I saw a different doctor yesterday who said just that! He said I should have had the tetanus only.

But then when you're pregnant here they are very keen on you getting a tdap each time (they say it provides pertussis protection for the baby) and when I told him that he seemed surprised! Hmm

Oh, and it's all healed up now, just a massive bruise. And the new doctor thinks it wasn't a spider bite but a black fly bite. Which is terrifying because everyone gets millions a year. Although maybe not as terrifying as it's uncommon to get infected.
