I have quite high bills, it’s quite a large detached 4 bedroomed house with a loft room too. How much do you pay and what is the size of your place?

Mine is £140 per month for gas and electricity. That's for a 4bed/3recep house with 4 adults. We are with eon.

AuntieMarys · 31/05/2019 22:24

4 bed, 3 bathrooms over 3 floors.
We pay about £1200 a year.
2 of us.

BackforGood · 31/05/2019 22:28

£118pm combined.
6 bed, high roofed (Victorian) house with 4 adults + 1 (student outside term-time).
I say 'adult'..... 3 of them struggle to grasp the concept of turning anything off / keeping doors closed / not putting heating on and then opening a window / etc.

maddening · 31/05/2019 23:59

£127 p. Month, 5 bed 2 adults I child, dh works from home most days

MontStMichel · 01/06/2019 06:56

£127 pcm for a 4 bed detached house, with 3 adults - 2 home all day and we have the heating on from 6.30 am - 10.30 pm in the winter.

Guylian2019 · 01/06/2019 07:15

£45 pm. Small house. Just me.

Pointless2 · 01/06/2019 07:21

£170 a month for gas and electric, but that’s because I am catching up - we were without provider for 6 months and had no one to pay during that period.

It would still be a lot however - 4 bed semi with me and 3 teenagers, plus now a lodger as well. Middle daughter has OCD and two hour showers every day before school.

Fluandseptember · 01/06/2019 07:21

£107 combined. 4 bed 4 storeys

lobsterkiller · 01/06/2019 07:23

2 bed house, dial fuel £40.

ImpracticalCape · 01/06/2019 07:26

Gas $80 per year -£40 (bottled. No mains here!)

Electric $1000 a year. So about £540 a year

ImpracticalCape · 01/06/2019 07:27

Sorry. NZ. 3 bed 2 bath house.

fairydustandpixies · 01/06/2019 07:28

3 bed terraced house, just me, £28 combined per month.

JaynePoole · 01/06/2019 07:29

£564 per year (£47 per month). I expect to have a bit of a rebate on that though.

2 Adults, one out at work. 3 bedroom, 2 reception room, 1930s mid-terrace.

fivecupsoftea · 01/06/2019 09:09

Thanks for all your replies, my house is so energy inefficient, I’m paying quite a lot more than you all.

We "pay" £177 per month for gas, electricity, telephone and broadband, but because we have solar panels we actually ended up out of pocket last year to the tune of £136 in total over the whole year!

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 01/06/2019 09:24

£164 a month 3 bed semi 3 reception rooms, two adults and a baby. It's an old house though, we use the heating less since we lagged the loft with some kind of super insulation and upstairs is very warm, but downstairs has been knocked around so it's fairly open which it wouldn't have been originally so it's difficult to keep downstairs toasty. We had a log burner fitted this winter and it means we can light that and turn the heating off in the evening. Currently arguing with Scottish power as the amount they've set our DD at is accruing credit even this time of year and next winter I'll be back at work and DS at nursery, this year we were keeping a newborn warm.

TapasForTwo · 01/06/2019 12:03

I forgot to say it is a 4 bedroom detached. Three people in the house most of the time, and we aren't stingy with the heating.

Littlechocola · 01/06/2019 12:07

Electric only. £60 a month.
4 adults, 1 child.
5 bedroom detached old house. We have a log burner which we use in the winter.
Try to only use tumble dryer in the winter.

Furrydogmum · 01/06/2019 12:17

£2500-3000 😒

jackparlabane · 01/06/2019 12:19

About 180 a month or 1700 a year. Lots of DIY increases the electricity used, and there's 3 adults, 3 kids, working at home so extra hasting and computer use. And a 3-storey Victorian house. One cost we werent expecting when we had an extension replaced was £500 extra electricity in two months.

caughtinanet · 01/06/2019 12:24

It doesn't matter what anyone else pays. Everyone will pay the least for their circumstances if they 1. Make sure they have the cheapest available tariff and 2. Take energy saving measures.

It really is a waste of time comparing with someone else. What are you going to do if I tell you I spend a fiver a month or £500? That's a genuine question, I don't get these type of threads at all.

MereDintofPandiculation · 01/06/2019 12:27

It really is a waste of time comparing with someone else. What are you going to do if I tell you I spend a fiver a month or £500? It may alert you to being not as energy efficient as you thought you were. Or it may reassure you that the fact that your energy saving measures haven't led to a reduction in bills is due to the increases in fuel prices rather than that your energy saving measures haven't worked.

nolassie · 01/06/2019 12:28

£240 a month combined gas and electric !!!! Regularly switch supplier. I live in Scotland, 5 bed, open plannish downstairs. 2 Adults 2 teens. I work from home though normally only have a small heater on at my feet through winter during the day. Can’t wait for a smart meter to see why bills are so high.

Drogosnextwife · 01/06/2019 12:29

About 1500 a year in a 2 bed flat Confused think we should look at switching providers.

Drogosnextwife · 01/06/2019 12:31

I do work from home and look after small children though so need to keep the place warm for them.
