okie, i know that everyone has their own ideas and is entitled to do what they want as long as they dont hurt anyone, but this is just annoying me.
a woman i know irl went on holiday withher dh, six year old ds and one year old dd. they flew out all the way to spain, and spent two weeks in some holiday complex, where all they did was sit by the pool all day long. not once did they venture out to see the sights of the country they were in. or eat the local food. or experience anything at all about the place?
they have a gym membership with a beautiful outdoor pool. what exactly did they gain by goind all the wya out there? was there a point to it all?

this woman annoys me lots and lots and lots irl anyways. but i am not so rude as to say antyhing to her, as she is a nice person, who has never been nasty to me, or anyone else that i know off. but she irritates me.

Lol

SEA. You do make me larf.

cylonbabe · 21/07/2007 22:41

desi, we dont holday much, but when we do, i am usually exhausted by the time we get back. and a few days of doing normal boring stuff at home (like laundry) is needed to recover fromm the exhausting schedule of trying to fit in all the sightseeing etc we have done.

i sometimes thing of doing a holiday like this, but i just know i will be bored senseless within about half an hour.

my mum was frantic with worry!

Bubble99 · 21/07/2007 22:45

I imagine the tale of his cactus was his party piece for a good few years, too?

southeastastra · 21/07/2007 22:51

no he's far too shy to show it off. though it lasted a few good years

i don't think we ever mentioned it again. i can see my mum now freaking out that he'd fallen off the edge

pointydog · 21/07/2007 22:53

you rant away, cyclon. Don't understand people who sit in the sun all holiday either.

cylonbabe · 21/07/2007 22:56

sea and bubble, please explain this cactus thing to me. i understand it not and am thicko ignoramus.

gibberish · 21/07/2007 22:59

It's my DREAM to sit in the sun for 2 weeks.

But then I am from Scotland and never get to see it EVER. And in reality, after the first few hours would probably be bored witless...

But I still hold the dream close to my peely wally heart.

BadHair · 21/07/2007 23:00

Agree - why go all the way to Spain to sit on your arse when you can do that in your own house? Why bother visiting another country if you're not going to see more of it than the drive from the airport. Waste of time, money and aircraft fuel.

The closest I'm getting to a holiday is going to consist of a week in PIL's caravan in the UK. With PILs present. Probably in the belting rain. OK, so at least it is a holiday, but I would rather be going to another country and would certainly not be lolling on backside when I got there - makes me cross!

Bubble99 · 21/07/2007 23:06

cyclon. I loved SEA's description of her and her parents on holiday in Majorca. He fell off a ledge into a monastery, which is obviously not good, but I was laughing at the details of him turning up, hours later, with a cactus.

Very random and very funny.

PeachesMcLean · 21/07/2007 23:06

Thank you for saying Peely Wally. I love that.

I'd hate two weeks by the pool as well, but it could be a bit irrational to get quite so wound up by it?

gibberish · 21/07/2007 23:09

You're welcome lol.

Yes, I think it is a tad irrational too. cyclonebabe, you keep saying that this woman irritates you in lots of ways - can you elaborate please?

mm22bys · 21/07/2007 23:20

I agree that if all they did was to sit at the pool they may as well have stayed at home...

IF (and a big IF) their home actually HAD sun!

cylonbabe · 21/07/2007 23:47

well, yes, we havent had much sun this year have we? but they had this holiday booked long before we knew this summmer was going to be such a dud.

this woman is always immaculately madeup. never a hair out of place, or a toenail with chipped polish.
her kids are always clean. and if not, they are wiped down to within an inch of their lives so as to give the appearance of always being clean. never ever a dirty face whilst eating as she wipes them clean!
her dd, adorable baby. i have never seen her without sparklingly clean clothes. never seen her out of a pushchair, or high chair. sleeps and eats like clockwork. yet this woman thinks that because she has the youngest baby in the group, everyone has to run round helping her.

as i said, there is nothing at all nasty about her. nothing i can say. just all a feeling of , well, just making me annoyed at her. i have three kids, and am constantly running round trying to get stuff organised, and feeling i am not, but sick of her complaining about one child and one easy baby. but she's not even nasty. so cant really be annoyed at her in rl.
rant really

lol. It does sound like you are a tad envious though.. well I would be. She doesn't sound quite real though. If she manages to sit around a pool for 2 weeks with young children she must be a miracle mum or must just ignore them completely. How do you KNOW she spent the entire 2 weeks sitting by the pool? Did she tell you this? Where were the kids? How is it possible? I need to know her secrets.

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 00:02

but i it really the tryth...people can keep up appearances rather well, iykwim

cylonbabe · 22/07/2007 00:02

she has a very very helpful dh. and her ds does as he is told. he does not have older or younger siblings to lead him astrya. and the 13 month old probly spent the time n her pushchair or a highchair.

whilst i would love to have clean children all the time, i am not willing to tell dd and ds2 off for makin g mudpies.they had sooo much fun. she told her kid off, and practically gave him a bath then and there with wipes. i took mine home, gave them showers and stuck the dirty clothes in the wash. similarly, it would be nice to have a glamour model like toddler, but she doesnt allow her toddler to toddle because sh would get dirty! she has a little bottle of dettol antiseptic spray in her bag which she uses before sitting her dd in a high chair. she wont let her dd have any real food in case of, well, i dont know in case of what. etc etc
she also has lots of fammily around to help her. i am definitly of that.

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 00:04

oh, and the other thing is...how happy are the Kids really...now whilest I know there are some extraordinary specimens out there...most just like to get grubby or get you grubby, lol and play wild and madly!

gibberish · 22/07/2007 00:06

Exactly Molfoy... it's easy to appear to have complete control when behind the scenes you are crumbling (speaking from experience here...) It sounds like she is trying to prove something to herself rather than to everyone else. I feel quite sorry for her actually. You sound confident in yourself and what you want for your children - she doesn't.

cylonbabe · 22/07/2007 00:14

thank you gib. i will remember that when my self esteem is nearing rock bottom again..

OP posts:
gibberish · 22/07/2007 00:19

Cylon. Don't worry about what other people are doing or appear to be doing. You never really know what is going on in reality. Your self esteem should be high - sounds like your little ones are healthy and happy and you are doing a very good job.

cylonbabe · 22/07/2007 00:21

i like you.
