Just been out for lunch. Barmaid came over to bf and said I get off at six, bf said you can come and join us, right when I am sat there. I’ve stropped off home and left him there, he is saying he was being friendly / banter. AIBU

*finishing not dividing

I think it’s an innocent remark on both accounts, they wouldn’t be so brazen about in front of you if they had other intentions Flowers

YouCantSeeMeHere · 27/05/2019 12:52

When we visit America my husband always gets hit on like this. Right in front of me. He never notices 😂

Thing is he’s an overweight balding 30 year old but they love his accent.

Anyway, I would be upset if he agreed to it!

Mandala6 · 27/05/2019 12:54

It's not like he said "you can join me for a drink, I was just about to ask my partner to leave"
As someone who used to be a bartender you get invited to have a drink with customers all the time because it's a friendly hospitality environment.
Seems like an overreaction, especially since you say he does nothing to make you worry in general.

Morgan12 · 27/05/2019 13:38

So did he stay and have a drink with her?

Myheartbelongsto · 27/05/2019 13:43

I’d let it go op

SleepingStandingUp · 27/05/2019 13:44

So
"Are you having a Mojito tonight?"
"yeah, later"
"well I'm off at six"
"you should join us"

And you're convinced who wants to shag who? You're saying it wasn't said flirtily, so she wasn't saying "ditch the gf and you and me can get it on" so why would he take it that way? So he's said "oh join us for a drink" with you both knowing his gf will be there.

It doesn't sound like he's hoping to get with her, and he's understandably annoyed your first assumption is he wants to cheat on you

WorraLiberty · 27/05/2019 13:53

I think it's fairly obvious she was saying she finishes at 6 so he needs to order the cocktail before then.

There's so much projection on this thread. Some of you must be a nightmare to live with.

OrdinaryGirl · 27/05/2019 13:57

Chinny reckon! This made my day. Haven't heard that phrase since 1993. 👵🏻 Isn't it good though? Shall we try bringing it back? I can see it working well in Parliament. Such a bracingly concise response when used appropriately.

LimeKiwi · 27/05/2019 14:06

@glasshalf
I find it really odd that she would make that comment in front of you?! That's really weird . Why the heck would you tell a customer what time you finish and then why would he invite her over do they know each other? There's more to this!

Was just thinking the same! Why would a waitress you didn't know be telling the customer when they clocked off and making it sound like they're meeting up?
Sounds odd!

LimeKiwi · 27/05/2019 14:11

She clearly meant if he wanted the drink she finishes at 6 so would need to be before that.

Ah, that makes more sense!

LimeKiwi · 27/05/2019 14:12

@OrdinaryGirl I LOVE the phrase chinny reckon Grin
Definitely needs to make a comeback. Don't forget to stroke your chin as you say it lol

WorraLiberty · 27/05/2019 14:15

I got deleted a few months ago for saying chinny reckon to an OP Blush

FWIW HQ ended up deleting the thread anyway because errrr...well they obviously thought it was a chinny reckon too by the sound of it Grin

Andylion · 27/05/2019 15:20

Why would she be the only one to make a particular cocktail? There is no hint in the OP that this is the case.

MRex · 27/05/2019 16:01

She was just making conversation @Andylion. Some people chat, that's how it goes.

ErickBroch · 27/05/2019 17:08

Your second post made it very obvious that she was saying if we wanted specific cocktail he had last weekend then he should order before 6 as that's when she finishes.

Regarding his comment, could be innocent but down to tone I guess. I would find it weird if my boyfriend said that, would be odd to invite someone random to join us at dinner.

Drogosnextwife · 27/05/2019 18:32

Why would he need to order the cocktail before she finished? Is she the oy waitress in the place? I'm sure if she's finished her shift they will have someone else in who can make cocktails Hmm
