To think she was being unkind

Recently been to a spa with a friend. It was our first time as it is a recently opened spa & hotel.
It all went well until we decided to treat ourselves with the afternoon tea. While we were waiting, we decided to have a look at the garden attached to the restaurant via a double French door. It was raining so the doors were shut, we opened it and it just automatically shut behind us( no sign or anything ). We had a quick look around in the garden and decided to go inside as the rain was getting heavier, then we realized that there was no way to open the French door from the garden and we were locked outside. The restaurant reception can not see us directly, and it was a busy time so we felt a bit silly really. So I just smiled and waved at the lady who was sitting about 0.5 meter from the French door, and pointing to the door from outside , hoping she would help us . She just rolled her eyes back and pointed to a different direction...so we thought there must be another entrance , we walked around the restaurant again in the rain, and realized there was no any other entrance ( apart from the fire exit we didn’t use it for obvious reason). So we came back to the French door again ! This time the lady saw us and just turned her back to us deliberately and kept on her conversation with her friends ! No other tables can see us directly apart from this one. I felt a bit upset but didn’t want to bang on the door to make a big fuss. Luckily in about 3 minutes a staff was passing by and let us in. She apologized to us and explained that we have to let the both door open so we won’t be locked outside again. She mentioned they would put a sign up soon as it is new restaurant. AMBU to think the lady sitting next to the French door was being unkind ?

She was horrible. How hard would it have been to let you in? Did you say anything to her?

Sicario · 22/05/2019 08:59

I think it was probably my sister.

clockworklime · 22/05/2019 08:59

I would have hammered on that door constantly until she moved her arse, CF

IvanaPee · 22/05/2019 09:01

My god!! Why the fuck would she not open the door???

Samind · 22/05/2019 09:03

That's plain rude. Some people are above it all though eh? I hope you had a nice time at the spa aside from that

Cariadne · 22/05/2019 09:03

What a cow!!!

TheCanterburyWhales · 22/05/2019 09:03

Maybe she thought it was a fire door?
Maybe she thought you were trying to get in without paying?

If I were a guest in a restaurant and people were trying to get in via the garden I think I'd ignore them as well.

Country123 · 22/05/2019 09:07

Hi Canter
The garden is exclusive to the spa and we were all wearing the spa bathrobes with the hotel logo. So she knew we were all spa guests ...

Hi Witcho
Thanks for reading. No, i didn't say anything to her as I was speechless ...

Maybe she thought the door wasn’t meant to be opened? Maybe she was just enjoying her tea?

Stravapalava · 22/05/2019 09:18

You can still enjoy your tea after getting up for a sec to let someone in! And if I was concerned the door wasn't supposed to be opened, I'd ask one of the staff. She was deliberately being unkind OP.

SupaNintendoChalmers · 22/05/2019 09:19

I would have said "thank you soooo much for your help" to her really sarcastically. Some people are just so weird! I can't imagine just ignoring someone like that! What a weirdo!

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/05/2019 09:23

How hard is it to get up and open a door then sit back donw - what a cow! I would have said something to her though!

fecketyfeck21 · 22/05/2019 09:23

if she wasn't sure about the door she could have alerted a staff member. bit the doors need a sign even so.

Notabedofroses · 22/05/2019 09:38

I would have knocked on the door loudly, and ignored the hag.

IvanaPee · 22/05/2019 10:46

Maybe she was enjoying her tea??

What do you think would have happened to her tea in the ten seconds it would take to open the door?

herculepoirot2 · 22/05/2019 10:48

IvanaPee

Not a lot. She probably wasn’t a very nice woman, but she doesn’t have to open the door. It’s not very friendly, but she’s not the bell boy.

IvanaPee · 22/05/2019 10:52

I mean...really?? She’s not a bell boy?

It was opening a door.

herculepoirot2 · 22/05/2019 10:55

IvanaPee

I know that. Perhaps she wasn’t very well or found movement difficult, was feeling dizzy, was having a difficult discussion, was struggling with something we know nothing about? The OP locked herself out. It might have been nicer for the other woman to let her in, but it’s not her job to do that.

drinkygin · 22/05/2019 10:56

She sounds an absolute dickhead and I can’t believe there are people defending her. Although being on MN for a while nothing surprises me anymore.

chloelou90 · 22/05/2019 10:59

Can’t believe some of the posters on this thread- people like that really do make the world seem a more rude place Hmm
Mind you OP, some people are always out to tell the OP they're wrong. All those making excuses for the rude cow may just be being deliberately controversial.

IvanaPee · 22/05/2019 11:04

Oh, come off it!

Not too dizzy and sick to get herself to the spa and the afternoon tea. But too dizzy to open a door.

I wonder was she carried out of the place. My guess is she walked. 🙄

NoSauce · 22/05/2019 11:05

Just plain weird plus mean. Why the hell would you not get up and open the door.

herculepoirot2 · 22/05/2019 11:07

IvanaPee

I agree it’s unlikely. But we don’t know how another person is feeling at any given moment.

Country123 · 22/05/2019 11:10

Chloelo90
Thank you for the kind words.
For those weren't clear about the situation afterwards: the lady finished her champagne( not teaWink) and then stood up perfectly and heading to the treatment room...
I know it was not her responsibility to open the door, but I would not give a second thought to open the door if it was me... just so confused and disappointed with some unkindness , but it didn't ruin my spa day!
Thank you all for the replies. and glad to know the majorities on MN will be kind to strangers when come to this kind of situation , that is a big relief.
