Approaching 30 and I have been dealing with a bad period of anxiety over the last 12 months, I have really been trying to improve my general happiness, health and wellbeing and thought I would share my activities etc to help others!

I will start:

  1. I treated myself to an essential oil diffuser with a kit of essential oils and each night I diffuse oils such as lavender to relax and keep calm.
  2. My showers now consist of putting the plug in and dropping a few drops of peppermint and eucalyptus... which is heaven! I feel like I am in a spa.
  3. With the help of mumsnetters I created a happy cheery spotify playlist, I try and play this most mornings on the way to work...lots of solo karaoke sessions are carried out!
  4. I invested in some natural sets of shampoo and conditioner that smell lush and it feels like a treat washing my hair. (I use maui if anyone is interested, purchased from boots!)
  5. I used to be so poor with my skincare and now I am obsessed! Spf 40 every day and I have started cleaning and moisturising my skin with natural oils (such as coconut oil, sweet almond, pomegranate oil!)
  6. Calamine tea before bed, I purchased a delicious twinings pack with spiced apple, vanilla and passionflowets... yum!

Things I would like to improve on...

  1. I am quite lazy and really need to start doing more exercise!
  2. Eating healthier and less sugary snacks and desserts
  3. Looking for inspiration from this thread!

Thank you for reading and looking forward to seeing your responses =)

Exercise! I hit my local gym and love it. Audio books on the treadmill for a steep uphill brisk walk then into a run.
I also do classes and have made some nice friends there.

Enjoying my garden and swapping cuttings with my friends.

mintcucumber · 19/05/2019 22:13

Running - started couch to 5k in December and now run 10k three times a week.
Mindfulness - if you can’t find a course (far better to do a group course than online) then download the Headspace app.

jameswong · 19/05/2019 22:14

Exercise - trail running, road running, weights, calisthenics

Meditation - mindfulness

Playing with my son

Talking with my wife

Sex with my wife

ScrambledToe · 19/05/2019 22:14

My mountain bike.

StCharlotte · 19/05/2019 22:14

Definitely watching my husband doing the gardening.

Toooldtobearsed2 · 19/05/2019 22:17

Walking the dogs.

I can be in the shittiest mood ever, or really sad, or so fed up with DH I am planning the perfect murder.
An hoor or two on a countryside walk with two soppy labradors cures me of everything 😊

Aimily · 19/05/2019 22:17

I also have an oil diffuser, absolute game changer at bedtime whilst doing my nighttime routine (wash and cleanse) need to try your shower tip, that sounds amazing OP
I read, love to get lost in a story
Walk, or more of a waddle as I get further along in my pregnancy
Mindfulness, I use the headspace app and also found some fantastic tips on the mind website, has been great for shutting the world out when I need space and to calm down.

Lonecatwithkitten · 19/05/2019 22:17

Walking my dog on a regular route, noting the changing seasons, there was a cuckoo on Tuesday.
Crochet, making beautiful things to give as gifts. The rhythmical activity.

Mitsouko67 · 19/05/2019 22:19

Long walks alone. With coffee breaks Smile

Chippychipsforme · 19/05/2019 22:27

Exercise - yoga, running and long walks
I've cut down on drinking - I still drink but I'm not getting plastered 2-3 times a week anymore

BlueMerchant · 19/05/2019 22:28

I enjoy reading and when I go up to bed every night I spray my thisworks pillow mist, put on my lamp and enjoy getting lost in my latest novel.
I also enjoy treating myself to a new bath oil or body lotion and occasionally a new pair of PJs and posh chocs and having a bit of 'me' time when DC go to bed.

Badabingbadabum · 19/05/2019 22:29

Organisation. Essential with work and two dc but anxiety and depression after a very stressful period has made this hard. My day is so much better when clothes are ready, bags are packed and good lunches prepared. The day starts well and I feel good about myself. Smile

Leftielefterson · 19/05/2019 22:33

• Running and cycling
• Reading
• Painting
• Playing the drums
• Days out with my baby

Badabingbadabum · 19/05/2019 22:36

Eating alone. When I eat out alone I am the confident woman I wish I was! Either a meal or coffee and cake - sit where I like, order what I like, lovely quiet alone time. It truly is my favourite self care thing.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/05/2019 22:36

This is a lovely thread and a naked placemark as I’m having my baby this week and after a tough as hell 9 months I know this marks the turning of a corner, so many of these lovely things will be inspirational x

yellowpolkadots101 · 19/05/2019 22:38

Just downloaded headspace... amazing thank you!

I have another one, simple I guess but I try and see the best in people and proactively try and be kind and nice to others every day!

I write, read, walk the dog in the woods, go to a meditation class once a week, do my nails while I’m watching Netflix on a Sunday night while wearing one of those Korean face masks.

I’m going to invest in a diffuser and some of that tea I think Smile

MissEliza · 19/05/2019 22:47

Going to the gym will always cheer me up but I recently started Pilates and that's become my 'happy hour'. I think because you have to be mindful of what you're doing, you really switch off so it's relaxing.

looondonn · 19/05/2019 22:50

Keep adding guys this is fab

Walking
Reading
Mbsr and being with animals helps me massively

YesQueen · 19/05/2019 22:54

Riding my horse
Music while doing my skincare or makeup
Clean sheet
Wax tarts in a burner (I like laundry scented or citrus ones)
Taking 15 mins every morning to just sit with a cup of tea and wake up
Bird and blend tea (I buy empty teabags and use the loose tea)

yellowpolkadots101 · 19/05/2019 22:57

Another one I would like to work on... getting more sleep! Between 8 and 9 hours would be great! =)

SkiingIsHeaven · 19/05/2019 23:06

I took up field archery. Not boring targets but faux animals in the woods.

tastylancs · 19/05/2019 23:23

Just treated myself to a subscription to a yoga app and do morning yoga Monday to Friday (well, ok only started on Wednesday) and felt amazing after.

DefConOne · 19/05/2019 23:51

I joined a choir and sing well with people I like. Uplifting.

Bravelurker · 20/05/2019 01:23

My bike, it is gorgeous and I cannot wait for the weather to get better so I can fill my panniers with food and drink, download my latest show /book/music/raincoat and ride off for the day. Total bliss Smile.
