£37 per month for broadband only? Or £29 but then up to £49 in year two?! FUCK OFF!!!!! Looks like I'll have to dust down the old Danielle Steel's to keep me entertained because fuck that shit.

How much does everyone else pay?! I'm just buying my first home after 3 years of nightmare house sharing and I'm sickened by how much it's gone up in the 3 years since I rented privately.

23.99 plusnet including line rental ! Use the internet that’s a rip off !

IAmTheChosenOne · 15/05/2019 07:16

Im just looking for the arm shoved up behind your back forcing you to pay for it.

That's the whole point of introductory offers. To hook you in.

QuestionableMouse · 15/05/2019 07:16

Who is that with? Now Broadband have some very reasonable deals.

AlyssasBackRolls · 15/05/2019 07:17

Under 30 quid here for up to 65mb (yeah in reality not always that fast but fast enough for three of us on our devices all the time) plus unlimited calls on a phoneline. Talk talk are the provider.

Nacreous · 15/05/2019 07:18

Broadband comparison. I pay about £14 a month I think after things like Amazon vouchers back. It looks like in a town you can get non fibre quite cheaply at the moment?

PineappleTart · 15/05/2019 07:19

I'm with talk talk which is (I think) £27.50 for fibre

DeathMetalMum · 15/05/2019 07:20

£19.99 a month for unlimited fibre broadband. I got a good deal with my current provider when my contract was up. For non fibre broadband I think we were paying somewhere around the same price £17.99 ish. I don't really notice the difference except when it comes to things like updating the Xbox or downloading games on it - which doesn't happen every day.

BornInGlasgow · 15/05/2019 07:21

VM are the best apparently but I'm not paying that! Vodafone do it for £21 per month but I'm guessing it's probably shit... It's only me in the house if that makes a difference.

Sirzy · 15/05/2019 07:21

Are you going for some sort of superspeedy package? I pay under £20 a month for line rental and bb (33 whatever it’s measured in) with plusnet

Spam88 · 15/05/2019 07:22

That is particularly expensive. We pay about £22 a month for unlimited fibre with Vodafone.

Spam88 · 15/05/2019 07:23

Ah, cross post! We find Vodafone absolutely fine. Two adults in the house and were quite often both streaming at the same time, or one streaming and one on Xbox live. Customer service whilst setting it up was absolutely dire but if you can get through that then we haven't had problems since.

RezCowgirl · 15/05/2019 07:24

£34 fibre 100mb ( which it usually is). Not bad price but we don't have any phone line or TV subscriptions and licenses to pay for.

Answeringonlyyesorno · 15/05/2019 07:24

I pay 10 a month for 90 mg or whatever it is, with Sky. That excludes line rental at 19 which is the same most places.

FakeTanandProsecco · 15/05/2019 07:26

We only have KCom up here and it's £40+ for fibre. Even before we upgraded to fibre we were paying similar money for (really slow) broadband.

DeathMetalMum · 15/05/2019 07:26

Check out the comparison websites uswitch and broadband choices. They often have special deals running with provider's.

londonrach · 15/05/2019 07:28

Thats expensive. Try price comparison site. Im with plusnet. You need to change or threaten to change providers every year

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/05/2019 07:34

Sorry, but are you kidding? Considering the infrastructure, security etc behind it all, and all the information and services it gives you access to, it's a total bargain.

Plus you don't need to pay as much as the prices you are quoting. Just look on moneysavingexpert and hop from deal to deal. Or you could look at mobile broadband and tethering if you have a good signal locally.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/05/2019 07:36

You say it's more expensive than 3 years ago. That's probably because streaming etc has exploded in that time and they've had to put the capacity in place to accommodate the entire country being on Netflix 24/7, which is expensive.

specterlitt · 15/05/2019 07:37

I use Virgin Media and do find them to be the best, never had an issue in over a decade.

specterlitt · 15/05/2019 07:38

Regarding costs - yes they are ridiculous. You'd think they would be getting cheaper but they do not appear to be despite the popularity and demand of the internet. It used to be a luxury but has nowadays almost become a necessity, especially for children with schoolwork etc.

mrsm43s · 15/05/2019 07:38

Do some research. You should easily be able to get a package of unlimited fibre plus phone line for under £25 a month.

Whitelisbon · 15/05/2019 07:38

We pay £37 a month. That's super fast fibre (70mbps normally), line rental, and anytime calls to landlines and mobiles.
10 years ago (ish) I was paying almost that without the broadband on top, which was sloooooow.
Bargain.

HJWT · 15/05/2019 07:38

We pay £29.99 with BT, we live in a new village were when they built it they must of got a contract with BT to put the lines in for Fibre as the box's were under stairs with all new builds and you can't get ANY other internet here it is suppose to go up every year but every time they email me i ring to cancel and they keep it the same...

Iggity · 15/05/2019 07:40

Until recently paying BT about 79 pounds for fibre broadband and line rental (no tv package); they reserve deals for new customers. Switched to plusnet and paying 30 something. Might seem a lot to some but when you look at what we were paying.....

Iggity · 15/05/2019 07:41

Sorry that should have been 69 pounds!
