To think the cost of WiFi is a TOTAL piss take?!

£37 per month for broadband only? Or £29 but then up to £49 in year two?! FUCK OFF!!!!! Looks like I'll have to dust down the old Danielle Steel's to keep me entertained because fuck that shit.

How much does everyone else pay?! I'm just buying my first home after 3 years of nightmare house sharing and I'm sickened by how much it's gone up in the 3 years since I rented privately.

We're with Vodafone. Paying about £25 a month total. They couldn't get their guaranteed speed, so we get a discount every month, without any quibble. But, it is still plenty fast enough for 2 adults and 2 kids to be using the internet/streaming/gaming/whatever without problem. I work from home, with lots of Skype calls and files to download, never had a problem.

Getthepetwet · 15/05/2019 07:50

We have Vodafone BB, and pay around £20 pm. We were worried living pretty rurally it might not be that good, but it's fantastic. DP works from home using the internet as part of his job all day, with no problems apart from having to get a "signal booster" but that was due to having ridiculously thick walls and house over 4 floors, since then it's been brilliant. Much more reliable than when we were living in a city and paying through the nose for VM which would play up all the time and need the router resetting everyday.

Getthepetwet · 15/05/2019 07:51

And that's with no line rental charge as we don't want a land line

Pushing30 · 15/05/2019 07:51

I'm with Vodafone. £20 a month, never had any problems. There's me, partner and 2 kids all using it, plus guests sometimes, and it's never been slow.

SouthWestmom · 15/05/2019 07:51

Locally we are stuck with VM.

£64.99 for broadband , line rental and some crap tv package.

lisalocketlostherpocket · 15/05/2019 07:51

We're with Virgin Media and it is pretty good although is a bit unreliable in our area. But we've been with them 20 years (from when they were ntlworld) and it's only really been in the last year or so that they've been unreliable, I suspect too many houses are being built and they are not keeping pace with demand. It is expensive and I have considered switching to plusnet. My mum is with them and after years of a a rubbish service with talktalk, gets a reliable speedy service and can talk to someone if she has a question.

Avoid talktalk. Try plusnet.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 15/05/2019 07:54

We are with Virgin and pay £37, but we don't need to pay line rental. With other providers you pay £20 odd with line rental on top. It all works out the same.

lisalocketlostherpocket · 15/05/2019 07:54

We pay around £80 for landline, broadband and TV including Sky sports. I have no doubt we could save £££ but my DH and DS like having Sky and we did downgrade the package a year or so ago and they lost Eurosport (and ridiculously, Sky Sports News, despite having Sky Sports) which didn't make me popular. But the prices for TV are ridiculous. I think broadband is an essential service but TV packages are not.

ControversialFerret · 15/05/2019 07:58

We are with VM. Only a basic TV package but super fast fibre. Spendy but worth it, after years at our last place stuck with TalkTalk where we were supposed to get up to 20mb speeds but were lucky if we had 1.5! Now routinely get 100 or more and it makes life so much easier, especially for work.

I'd rather spend the money on our cable than on extra TV and phone deals.

Hearthside · 15/05/2019 07:58

Because we are rural we don't get much choice .Think it is only about 3 providers that actually do unlimited. We can't get VM round here and Plusnet charge you more if you live in the countryside.

Hearthside · 15/05/2019 08:00

We have to have two signal boosters too due to being old house and thick walls .One upstairs and one downstairs .

cantfindname · 15/05/2019 08:12

Fleur Telecom £27 per month including line rental.

Bloody brilliant little firm with English customer services. Best company I have ever dealt with.

Fiveredbricks · 15/05/2019 08:16

£28 for fibre 200mb with Virgin but we have been with them for 12yrs, so always haggle them down.

Likeamobvie · 15/05/2019 08:18

We pay £18 a month for sky, it's great never been a problem.

User11011 · 15/05/2019 08:19

22.50 per month broadband only

TheQueef · 15/05/2019 08:22

We move companies when the contract runs out (ds pays the bb bill) and by far the best was Plusnet.
Worst was VM tech problems. Expensive BY and Sky and talk talk customer service dire.

undertheoldoaktree · 15/05/2019 08:32

We live rurally. Can only have BT, no other companies. They charge us extortionately, of course, knowing this! £67 a month, drops out constantly and the number of times we've been left without internet for days (no compensation, naturally) due to some error or another on their part... It's apparently fibre now (cost the same for promised speeds of 2mbps before, it never once got that fast. We couldn't download ANYTHING), with superfast speeds of 8mbps and still drops out numerous times a day.
No other option though as DH needs it for work, whenever we threaten to cancel in hope of a better deal they tell us we aren't allowed!!

e1y1 · 15/05/2019 08:33

£54.99 a month with BT - the fibre up to 73mb jobby.

TyrionsNextWife · 15/05/2019 08:34

I pay £30 a month for line rental, unlimited fibre and the sky entertainment package from nowtv. It’s a 30 day contract and you can add or remove tv packages (like movies and sport) whenever you like.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 15/05/2019 08:34

Sky £18.99 it’s fine

SherlockSays · 15/05/2019 08:37

I don't know how much my broadband is alone but I pay £35 a month for Sky and that includes TV & line rental too (for which I don't even have a house phone!) so doesn't seem too bad really but I could get it lower when I can be bothered to try. Also includes access to Sky Go so I can watch stuff on tablets etc.

Greywalls12 · 15/05/2019 08:37

Now BB 18 a month, lags occasionally but not a major problem. Includes line rental

RottnestFerry · 15/05/2019 08:44

Until recently paying BT about 79 pounds for fibre broadband and line rental (no tv package)

We are still with BT and paying less than half that with TV (not a new customer).

BiBiBirdie · 15/05/2019 08:48

Does anyone ever pay the increase after the introductory offer runs out? I never have.
Last year, Virgin told me that they were increasing my bill from £30 a month to £58. There was no way I was paying that.
I rang, told them I wanted cancellations and pointed out how much sky makes its customers pay. I also said we didn't have a great deal of channels in our TV package and we don't use our phone line. I got it down to £33 a month as a result.
I always make a note of where the service drops or other times of poor service and drop that in too. Works every time.

19lottie82 · 15/05/2019 08:50

Be thankful you don’t live in America, their internet is crap and much more expensive than ours.
