Bloody Emmerdale, that's all I'm saying. And yes, I know it's not real life

"My Daddy!" in the railway children is a destroyer!! I actually cried harder at the remake, too, even though it's nowhere near as good; Michael Kitchen looks far more like my father.

Also in the film of the last months of Anne Frank, when she's ripped out of her dads (a very good Ben Kingsley) arms at the station on arrival Auschwitz, screaming for him. It's horrific in itself but you know she's going to die - and that he survives but she thinks he's dead, which really affected her will to live, I believe. So it's even more upsetting.

HollowTalk · 15/05/2019 13:24

I cringe at that, though, DSHathaway.

Me too. Always did even as a girl.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 15/05/2019 18:31

I have a much older father- I think it tapped into an early awareness that he could -and probably will- die before a lot of my friends fathers. The other film on the same theme that always gets me is A Little Princess.

EmeraldShamrock · 15/05/2019 18:38

Oh I love the little princess, I have tried to convince DD to watch it.
I love the original Annie when I was kid, I use to imagine I was an orphan, I constantly questioned if I was adopted, I am the only blonde with brown eyes, I hope I'd a rich family somewhere. Grin
Didn't happen though.

Mrsmadevans · 15/05/2019 18:53

I cried when DD1 bought home The Flour Babies and The Menyms , l read them of course Hmm Sad.

thewrongpigeon · 15/05/2019 18:56

I cry at the end of almost every children's film. Most recently - coco, storks & moana. Basically if someone loses or reunites with family and there's a bit of music in the background - I'll cry!

Bluetit101 · 15/05/2019 18:59

@BethanyGilbert

I cried at every episode of This Is Us, mainly because I knew Jacks death was coming. Broke my heart 😢

Bluetit101 · 15/05/2019 19:01

This is Us makes you want to cry throughout. Loved it!
Cried when I watched Ricky Gervais, Afterlife aswell. Although with that you are crying one minute then laughing the next.
Film wise, Seven Pounds gets me every time

lolaflores · 15/05/2019 19:03

Happy Prince...it bloody does me in every single time. It was on Radio 4 one Christmas and I was howling in the kitchen.
Its bringing a lump now just thinking a out it.

lolaflores · 15/05/2019 19:06

And now I'm fucking crying.. cheers all. This is like walking into a wall of crying material

PunishmentSnart · 15/05/2019 19:07

I’m a massive crier - most films, happy or sad.

I sing Baby Mine from Dumbo to my youngest and sob every time.

Cry at about 80% of adverts.

Surprisingly, quite good at holding it together in a serious situation where I’m needed to though!

sarahC40 · 15/05/2019 21:58

Just cried at game of thrones too - it’s been a very long and tiring day. My 18 year old just made me cry again, saying, ‘chin up mum - it’s not real...real life is much worse’. Bit gloomy for a Wednesday night, I thought, but then he’s doing his a levels.

sarahC40 · 15/05/2019 22:00

Reading Private Peaceful and (back in the day) Of Mice and Men to a class made me struggle to hold it together...

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/05/2019 22:09

Call the midwife , every ruddy week

ER too many times to remember ( ❤️ Dr Pratt ❤️)

Les Miserables in the theatre , from I dreamed a dream ( about 10 minutes in , ran out of tissues and had to use my scarf )

Children in need , the little girl with cancer who loved Disney songs , and had a singing teacher come and sing with her

And there’s more ...

Viebienremplie · 15/05/2019 22:33

DIY SOS gets me every time. I watch it in private now.

PunishmentSnart · 16/05/2019 08:36

Forgot about Les Mis in the theatre - I cried throughout and for about half an hour afterwards. Big heaving sobs through the streets of London, not one person looked at me strangely.

Back home up North my eyes watered slightly with hay fever and 3 people asked if I was ok on the 10 min school run Confused

thewrongpigeon · 17/05/2019 22:06

Also cried watching a mattress advert when I was tired

SpeckofStardust · 18/05/2019 03:04

I dissolved into a snotty, sniveling mess watching the last ever Big Bang Theory with DH just now. It was sooo flipping lovely. I’m gonna miss those guys. Waaaah!

Mousetolioness · 18/05/2019 11:58

The Railway Children film ... where 'Bobbie' sees her father appearing through the smoke and steam clouds - time stands still.
Final episode of Fleabag.
A million miles apart in every way and just two examples.

DobbyLovesSocks · 18/05/2019 12:40

Marley and Me. I don't even LIKE dogs FFS. Absolutely sobbed my heart out - so much that I forwent the tissues and grabbed a towel.

Since having DS I cry at most things. Character in a soap dies and I am in floods - semi-sad advert I cry.

Toy story three - I proper cried. DS was a bit Hmm mummy why are you crying?
