Is it is at Epworth? If so trams are right outside and a train station is 5 mins away. So even without a taxi, public transport is doable.
(Also St Vincents and Freemasons are on tram routes)
But do tell a friend. You will be surprised how willing people are to help. (I helped a friend in the same situation when we were students- she did not want her boyfriend there)

Plus booze buses operate all day and all night- and in the strangest places.

If it is a general hospital rather than an abortion clinic you could say to a friend you are having a hysterscopy (looks inside the womb) and that you can't drive after and need someone with you for the night. That is what we used to tell people at the women's clinic if they wanted something to say that was gyny but not an abortion. Flowers

(hysteroscopy)

Why have people reported the thread Confused
Are you having a GA or sedation 123tung ?
I had sedation, I had travelled from Ireland at 6am had the procedure at 10am. I was home in Dublin at 2.30. I drove home from the airport. Sedation wares off pretty quick, can you stay at the clinic or hospital for a couple of hours after?

EmeraldShamrock · 14/05/2019 06:45

I don't think I was sedated at all, so numbing gel only.
I stayed a short time in the clinic, I walked 3 miles to the train, travelled airport and flight home, So yes you should be ok to drive. Flowers
Goodluck I hope you find someone ypu can trust to go, I had my sister, though there were girls travelling alone. I imagine it would be harder on your own.

EmeraldShamrock · 14/05/2019 06:47

Is the abortion pill an option for you?

TrotEsio · 14/05/2019 10:39

Why have people reported the thread

Probably because a poster is asking people for a lift and some seem naive enough to offer.

Orchidoptic · 14/05/2019 10:44

I don’t think its allowed. Look after yourself, because it is hard mentally, if not physically.

I think it's more likely because there are likely mumsnetters who may offer money for the taxi fare.

SnagAndChips · 15/05/2019 01:45

East Melbourne is amazingly well served by public transport. So no need for an expensive taxi. A mate and a Myki (travel card) will fit, if OP is short of money. Travel across a huge expanse of Melbourne is about 5 quid for a day.

123Tung · 16/05/2019 07:37

thank you everyone

i took public transport and got home after the termination by myself... wasn't easy but at least its over

Can you pretend your lift has 'fallen through '? I'm sure they will consider ambulance or other transport to free up the bed.

RussellSprout · 16/05/2019 08:05

Sorry didn't realise you already had it

EmeraldShamrock · 16/05/2019 08:17

I hope you are feeling ok. Flowers

Longestlurkerintheworld · 16/05/2019 08:18

I had one recently, I wasn't allowed to drive my self home after conscious sedation. If you want to drive you won't be allowed any more paint relief than paracetamol and local anaesthetic. That was my experience with BPAS.

Longestlurkerintheworld · 16/05/2019 08:29

Oh also just seen you've had it done, hope your ok Flowers
