Do you ever want to put "Fucking LOL" as a reply to a Facebook selling item...

...when they are asking a fortune for a load of shite?

Or posting a picture of a grotty item and saying "need gone. Could do with a clean."

Or asking £1 less than what they actually sell for, brand new.

I really want to type "LOL, fuck off!" On them.

But I can't because im a total wuss and I care what people think of me. Fuck sake.

I'm watching one currently, someone has posted various household items, sofa, rugs etc they are all dirty without exception, listed as "could do with a clean" and yet she is wanting significant money for them. The sofa has been going down in price every few days, she's added now "could cover with a throw". I just think "who in their right mind wants to buy somebody else's dirty furnishings?" Expect it to be advertised as "Free....need gone" soon.

I kind of lost a friendship over FB selling!
My friend put an item on and I actually needed it, plus I wanted to help her out as she is a fellow single mum. I went to collect it and she hasn’t cleaned it one bit - absolutely covered in dust and cobwebs it was gross. She had also upcycled it very badly (not obvious from a photo) and to recoup my own money I have had to do it again to the item to make it useable. I can’t believe she had no issues taking my money for this thing and I have no interest in helping or talking to her again.

After this i realised what a freeloader she is. She can’t do anything for herself and posts on FB every time she needs help. I also realised she has expensive tastes beyond her means - she only works a few hours a week in a min wage job but wants the best car, the best furnishings etc. Some of the shit she sells and she never ever cleans it!

I saw a 2010 Bugaboo Bee for £350 that needed the brake and handle bar repairing... It was also grubby as fuck.

MistyMinge · 13/05/2019 07:15

I once went to collect a high chair that someone was selling on fb. Looked OK in the pic. When I got there it was still covered in old mushed up food and was absolutely filthy, and had obviously been stored away like it for quite some time. I couldn't believe they thought it was acceptable to sell something in that condition. There really are some cheeky fuckers about.

Mind you it is quite entertaining seeing the utter shit some people try and sell.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 13/05/2019 07:17

I'm friends with a woman who is always trying to sell stuff, but not in selling groups, just to her FB friends. She posts the oddest stuff with "need to sell quickly" and I always think, well try selling groups then if you're that desperate to sell it.

I also like the ones who try to sell obviously used stuff with "just want what I paid for it". I think you're misunderstanding the whole second-hand thing there my love....

Siameasy · 13/05/2019 07:18

“Need(s) gone” annoys me - as if we are obliged to help them get rid of it. Plus grammatically it sounds off.
When I was on FB I was a member of a “good deeds” site whereby you would give stuff away. I left quite quickly because of the begging replies on the post were shameless. One woman was making out her grandson wasn’t going to get any birthday presents and by the end of it he must’ve had about 100 presents. People were generally ungrateful and although it was collection only you’d get requests to drop it off somewhere miles away - as if I care. Collect it or it’s going to the charity shop!

I bought off someone I know and ended up paying over what it was worth for a pram. The pram was bloody disgusting and fit for the tip. I only needed it to last a few months so spent a day disinfecting it and made the best of a bad situation. When it was no longer needed it went to the tip. One year later the seller asked for it back, offering no cash Shock and was really off with me when I said it had gone. I am a CF magnet I really am.

Honeyroar · 13/05/2019 07:22

Just the phrase "needs gone" annoys me because it isn't even English.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 13/05/2019 07:32

It's the "not selling-wanted" ones that amuse me. Someone last year put "cabin bed needed. One like this (photo from argos)Must be new or nearly new. Can't collect." Someone put "I know where you can get one." "Where Hun?" "Argos" followed by an almighty slanging match. 😄

Boom45 · 13/05/2019 07:39

I love FB selling post, they are amazing. People place such high value on their old crap.

ScreamingValenta · 13/05/2019 07:43

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets irritated by the phrase "need gone". For some reason it really winds me up. Do they think the item will sell better because they've added that stupid phrase?

Jenasaurus · 13/05/2019 07:45

To be fair some are genuine bargains. I recently gave away my dinning table and 6 leather chairs for free as it was too big for my flat. I got a lovely thank you from the family. Mind you it was only 2 years old. I didn’t charge for it as the person would have to go up stairs and disassemble it. But I agree there are some odd freebies on there

e1y1 · 13/05/2019 07:45

Whenever they put "just needs a wipe down" I think "well just give it a wipe then, you sloven.".

Fucking THIS!!!!

Whenever I'm selling or giving anything away, I ALWAYS clean it down first (not that it is actually ever that dirty as I, you know, actually clean my stuff).

But I would never dream of selling something dirty - dread to think what some people live like with the state of what you see on selling pages.

user1496259972 · 13/05/2019 07:46

“Need gone” on selling posts irritates me

“Delete if not allowed” on any post also drives me nuts.

Bookworm4 · 13/05/2019 07:48

The misspelling is great;
Chester draws is my favourite 😂

Welltroddenpath · 13/05/2019 07:49

I like buying stuff off FB but I cant sell anything. I had about ten new Next kids dresses for offers and I didn’t even get 50p. Tempted to let dd wear them to nursery and get them ruined in paint. Then I can post them again for more than 50p by the stories on here 😂

I have given away a £150 prom for nothing and £50 worth of nappies and never had even a thank you on FB.

cantfindname · 13/05/2019 07:52

You all need to see the disgusting stained mattress put on our local selling page recently. Admittedly it was free but it was gross! Example of someone too lazy to go to the tip.

Ihatesundays · 13/05/2019 07:52

Mine has people selling clothes on Saturdays. Needs gone by 6pm as I’m off out. Obviously trying to make going out money.

Babysharkdododont · 13/05/2019 07:52

I went to pick up aJumperoo, the seller had put a standard argos photo of it up, saying hers was packed away. I got there and it was absolutely, stomach churningly filthy. I told her it was too dirty to sell, and why hadn't she cleaned it.... We ended up having a a massive screaming argument as I was so angry I'd dragged out in the rain for a "needs gone tonight" hun. Lesson learnt!

TheTrollFairy · 13/05/2019 07:54

The best ones are where they put something like ‘£10 if you can collect today otherwise it’s going to the charity shop/tip tomorrow’ okayyyy. So ill wait till it’s in the charity shop and they can benefit from the money.
I always think about putting links to shops when people are selling at stupid prices

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 13/05/2019 07:58

Hahaha Yea , I am with you OP

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 13/05/2019 07:59

Last night I was browsing a local selling one . Somebody was selling an iphone6S or something , without the charger , for £130.

Somebody commented "£130 with no charger? Lol".

bigbluebus · 13/05/2019 07:59

I was recently looking for a bike on FB. Saw one that said "good condition, tyres may have puncture or just need pumping up" . Surely you'd get a bike pump and find out before advertising it!

Also one on our local FB selling page who is 'illegally' trading cars. One recent advert stated slight damage to bodywork. Zoomed in on photo to note that whole wing was majorly damaged and needed replacing. He also advertised one car as taxed and insured for test drive. He has no trade plates and he has acquired the vehicles from 3rd parties before selling so they are absolutely not taxed as this ceases to be valid once the car changes ownership and I very much doubt they are insured either.

I saw one with someone selling an IKEA highchair at £2 less than they cost new. Someone did point that out and they said that the chair is as good as new. I'm in an area where there's an IKEA in walking distance.
