To ask why my ovulation pain is so bad?!

bumble270 · 10/05/2019 20:28

I swear ovulation is worse than the period! I can't be the only one surely?!

All the gps want to do is put me on the pill, but that doesn't agree with me so I just have to suck it up it seems Hmm

(Currently in bed feeling sorry for myself Blush)

Endometriosis? That's what it turned out to be for me. I used to have a week of horrendous pain in the middle of my cycle. Mirena has helped a bit.

Furrydogmum · 10/05/2019 20:44

Same, I found it started around peri-menopause..

geekone · 10/05/2019 20:44

Mine is the same. It’s not every month but it’s proper sore. I get constipation and wind and bad bloating and I can feel what side the egg is at.

bumble270 · 10/05/2019 20:48

Not to drop feed but.. i went to the go about it before , turned out I had a 9cm ovarian cyst, so that and an ovary removed. But it was on the opposite side to the main pain.

So now I'm left with the ovary that gives me the most grief

The gps keep telling me if it was endo they would have found it then, and if I want more investigation it could cause fertility issues.

I'm a bit nervous of the coil, it's the only think I haven't tried. Everything else makes me so nauseous and gives me migraines

I used to have horrendous ovulation pain and periods, Mirena coil has been a godsend for me

bumble270 · 10/05/2019 20:50

@Furrydogmum I haven't hit 30 yet, would peri menopause be that early generally?

SpeedyBojangles · 10/05/2019 20:59

I have this too OP. Was in agony yesterday and could barely stand it was so awful. GP said the same to me, suggested the pill but I don't react well to hormonal contraception so just have to put up with it for one day a month. Naproxen helps, but you can only get that on prescription. GP prescribed it to me when I said I wouldn't be using hormonal contraception. It started after my first baby and I've had two more since then so I don't think it's anything like endo in my case.

Gamorasgran · 10/05/2019 21:07

I have quite a bit of scar tissue in that neck of the woods and since having kids (in early 30s, 10 years ago) mine can be awful. Can spot a bit too.

Been investigated, just one of those things, normal for me and goes in 24 hours. I hate it though - I always forget what it is and think I'm getting a tummy bug.

Oh and I gain more weight at ovulation than I do for my period. Roll on menopause I say......

bumble270 · 10/05/2019 21:13

I'm just feeling really sorry for myself today!

I had morning sickness through 8 months of my pregnancy, when I go in the pill I instantly start to feel the same

My one year old had been trying to sit on my stomach all day which hasn't helped 😩

Greyponcho · 10/05/2019 21:15

If it was endo, then theres’s a chance they’ve missed it if they didn’t know how to look for it/what to look for.
Was your last investigation/treatment done at a recognised BSGE centre? Even so, it might be reoccurring cysts - even small ones can be seen by ultrasound if you want it investigated unobtrusively.
Have you tried progesterone as a treatment? (Bear in mind oral contraceptive doses of progesterone are around a tenth of what should be prescribed for gynaecological conditions).
Rectal anti inflammatories, a TENS machine are worth a try for helping to reduce pain (naproxen can ruin your stomach, even if you’re careful).
Good luck

Allfednonedead · 10/05/2019 21:19

I find feminax ultra (which is naproxen) at the first twinge makes it bearable. Otherwise I’m curled up on the floor, breaking into a cold sweat.

I gave birth to twins vaginally, one of them breech, without anaesthetic. Ovulation pain knocks me out.

bumble270 · 10/05/2019 21:22

I'm not sure if it was BSGE approved, is there a list I can check, the consultant seems quite high up does talks etc

I had a TENs for labour, might dig it out

I'll have a look in to progesterone, just after trying so many over the last few years I'm a bit reluctant to take more hormones

Yes me! It's been worse post-kids but was pretty bad before that. I can also tell which side is ovulating each month.

BlondeBumshelll · 10/05/2019 22:03

YES! Horrendous during ovulation but also painful most of the month for me too except during the last 2 days of my period and for about a week after it. It's chronic and as a last resort I've been referred to gynae in the hope that they agree to a laparoscopy, if not then it's something I have to live with. I have the mirena coil because all of a sudden I started getting heavy, painful periods and lower right abdo pain. It's calmed the flow but not the pain.

fatisnotafeeling · 10/05/2019 22:03

I certainly do and it's awful, curled up on the floor agony. I have tramadol to take and it barely takes the edge off.

I am pushing for a hysterectomy at the moment but they are so reluctant to do it but at 38 I am done with children and just want the pain to stop.

eurochick · 10/05/2019 22:18

I've always been able to feel ovulation but since having a baby it absolutely floors me. I reckon i have adhesions from my section. I can feel a pulling on my bowel amongst other delightful sensations.

littlepooch · 10/05/2019 22:23

Yes same! I thought I must be the only one.
It is awful, really knocks me for six every month. It's been since I had my children and it's getting worse every month. I'm 38 so wondering if it'd peri as I was warned I may go through the menopause earlier than average.

Along with the pain I get bad wind, bloating and constipation. I gain at least 3 or 4 lbs too for that week before it disappears along with the pain etc the following week.

SpeedyBojangles · 10/05/2019 22:25

I reckon i have adhesions from my section

That's interesting actually as mine started after my first section and has got progressively worse after second and third.

OP did you have a section? Or anyone else on the thread with the issue?

SpeedyBojangles · 10/05/2019 22:26

My mum didn't reach menopause until 56! Hoping I don't take that long. I can't go another 23 years with this pain every month!!

CaptainCabinets · 10/05/2019 22:26

Oh my god I’ve found my people! I feel like I’ve been stabbed when I ovulate Shock

ifeeltheneedtheneedforspeed · 10/05/2019 22:31

I get very sharp pain during ovulation, bloating and wind too, I'm very sore and uncomfortable for about 48hrs. It started after I had my child. I'm 41 now and it seems worse each month.

ifeeltheneedtheneedforspeed · 10/05/2019 22:33

Oh and yes I had a section too and gain up to 3/4lbs also just like the above poster.

RhubarbIsEvil · 10/05/2019 22:35

Yes, it’s so tender, isn’t it?

BillyAndTheSillies · 10/05/2019 22:37

Ovulation pain for me suddenly increased after two ruptured cysts in the space of 6 months.
GP suggested the pill since the "only way to stop ovulation pain is to stop ovulation".
I had a lap after my first rupture and no endo, and seemingly no reason for the pain but unfortunately I can't take oestrogen pills because of a family history with blood clots.
I'm pregnant at the moment so thankfully 9 months or no periods or ovulating but dreading how it's all going to feel come October when the baby is born.

Redcrayons · 10/05/2019 22:38

Same for me. I was diagnosed with endo before I got pg. it wasn’t too bad after I had babies for a few years. But now I’m peri menopausal it is even worse.
