My mobile and landline are both out of commission - sod's law. A man is unconscious in front of my house, either drunk or on some sort of strong narcotic. Everywhere around is closed as I live among shops and its a bank holiday. What do I do?? I don't want him to die on my porch!!

Knock on a neighbours door?

Vulpine · 06/05/2019 08:37

Go and help him?

LorelaiRoryEmily · 06/05/2019 08:37

Do you have a neighbour?

iloveeverykindofcat1 · 06/05/2019 08:38

I have no neighbours except shops - I'll try going a bit further

Use whatever you are writing this on to message anyone online, give them the details, and get them to phone.

IWantMyHatBack · 06/05/2019 08:39

You're on the internet. Can you message a friend/neighbour and ask them to call for you.

PookieDo · 06/05/2019 08:40

Find a pay phone

Yura · 06/05/2019 08:40

use skype?

Galaxy88 · 06/05/2019 08:40

So this is the right time to go online?? 🤨

nopen · 06/05/2019 08:40

You can make calls from WhatsApp can't you?

newhopewithanyluck · 06/05/2019 08:40

Usually you can still ring 999.

Famalamaringwrong · 06/05/2019 08:41
Hmm
Isadora2007 · 06/05/2019 08:42

Why can’t you go out to check if he is breathing etc? I can understand someone not going out at like 2am but this guy could have had a heart attack or a seizure. Go knock somewhere or shout for help. Poor guy.

Samind · 06/05/2019 08:43

Yeah can still contact emergency services I'm sure..... If this is real......

SnuggyBuggy · 06/05/2019 08:43

If this is real put him in the recovery position and I guess walk to the nearest house

iloveeverykindofcat1 · 06/05/2019 08:43

Ok nvm I found someone who cared. Just ran around outside and pointed it out to people with phones. The first two didn't care but the third is calling ambulance

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 06/05/2019 08:43

You can't use Skype or Whatsapp to call 999.

Yeah message someone and ask them to come over or phone for you.

What's wrong with your mobile?

Do you have a car? Drive to a payphone or nearest house/open shop.

BikeRunSki · 06/05/2019 08:44

Go out into the street and shout for help

babblingbumblingbandofbaboons · 06/05/2019 08:44

WhatsApp calls work through WiFi, as do Skype calls - though I vaguely recall that Skype can only be used for emergencies on certain platforms. As you’re online I assume you’re on either a laptop, desktop or tablet so you should be able to use one of them.

dyslexicbrian · 06/05/2019 08:45

Someone had collapsed on your doorstep and you post a message on MN rather than post a message somewhere that could offer help....wtf!

Anothertempusername · 06/05/2019 08:46

Wow.

BertieBotts · 06/05/2019 08:46

Oh OK, apparently you can Confused www.skype.com/en/legal/emergency-calling/

werideatdawn · 06/05/2019 08:46

🙄 just talk about it on mumsnet and emergency services magically appear.

iloveeverykindofcat1 · 06/05/2019 08:47
