To remove our en-suite?

We’ve just moved to a new house. Got a bit of money to it up how we like. It’s got an en-suite in the master bedroom that I think takes up a lot of room. I’m not overly fussed about en-suites. I don’t see why builders are so obsessed with cramming one in. Our old one fitted the room ok so we left it. This one is built almost like a cupboard into the room. We would gain a fair amount of room if we took it out. It’s not that functional and we don’t like the suite or decor in it. Would it be a problem though if we ever came to sell? What type of trades people would we need to sort it out if we wanted it removed. Have attached picture of outside to give a rough idea of what it looks like??

I think in a 3bedroom house, with an upstairs bathroom and a downstairs loo, you really don't need an en-suite.

However, unless your downstairs loo has a shower then honestly with kids it would be lovely to have an en-suite with shower. We tried to get a shower into our small downstairs loo but just not practical.

Could you get a shower into yours? If so then it makes more sense to have a bigger bedroom. I'd love an en-suite though

with two teenage girls in my house i would be lost without my en-suite shower

Well. it's your call OP
For what it's worth, we bought a 4 bed detached ( No en-suites) but yet then converted it to a 3 bed. Plus we built our own floor-ceiling Built-in wardrobes that combine drawers plus hanging rails.
Needless to say the bedrooms are always uncluttered, light and airy.
family and friends thought we were mad at the time, but we are still here 20yrs later, with no intention of ever moving. So clearly its worked for us.

My advice would be make it work for yourselves, the next owner may decide to put one back in.....and that's their choice too.

Buzzpeak - yes it was that virtual reality show. Just v odd and gross to have a loo 2 yards from your bed in full view!

I love our en-suite! We had our loft converted to bedroom and en-suite when we had our second child. No way would I even consider a house with only one bathroom.

Decision made. The en-suite stays and is getting an update! Thanks all for your input.

Yes! To keeping the en suite. If ours wanting children it’ll be brilliant.

Definitely keep and re do. You’ll miss having a walk in shower when heavily pregnant! Swap the toilet for shower and make it all a wet room
