To wonder who doesn't wear a seat belt and why!

It seems ludicrous to me that not wearing a seat belt doesn't carry at least a three points or even six points when not doing so selfishly and recklesly endangers the lives of others. Thankfully i don't knlw anyone in real life who'd ve as daft to not use the seatbelts fitted.

However, even if they don't give a shit about other people what kind of idiot isn't interested in saving their own skin in the event of a crash, when the effectiveness of seat belts in preventing death and serious injury is beyond doubt?

Does anyone here not use seatbelts or know anyone who is militantly anti seatbelt and what rationale do they use?

Ain't, I'm not against seatbelt wearing, I just don't wear one (excepting the circumstances I've stated).

I've acknowledged Turtle's post, awful circumstances for her and her family.

We, make decisions that potentially impact on other people every single day. Sometimes those decisions DO impact on other people in a negative way. The impact's the same whether they're intentional or not. I'm not getting into further debate about it really, there's no point. People crash and have accidents - sometimes they cause them because they drive badly, sometimes they're caused by other people's poor driving - whether they fly through the windscreen is irrelevant other than for high drama.

Wearing seatbelts is the law. Nothing much else to say on this goady thread really. So I'll leave it and posters can swap hyperbole and tall stories to their hearts' content.

You're doing yourself no favours here... going through a windscreen is a consequence of the occupant being unrestrained by a seatbelt. It is thankfully less common than it was since seatbelt use became mandatory, but dismissing the testinony of a doctor with 49 odd years experience smacks of willful ignorance.

Yes there have been some incredibly goady amd unpleasant posts on here. Every single one written by you.

I don't think this thread is goady.

With the exception for people with medical conditions or taxi drivers, wearing a seatbelt is just common sense.

I remember the Clunk Click Every Trip adverts BTW (not sure if this is in bad taste though)

I have always worn my seatbelt. To me it is automatic, just part and parcel of how to get into the car. I don't feel right without it and wearing it was drummed into us as children by my parents. It was not negotiable.

I have been the same with my children. Some vehicles, like public transport buses, are still not fitted with seatbelts for passengers, but for us those are the only exceptions to the rule.

If I have passengers in my car I insist that every single one of them is belted in before I will drive off. No excuses.
