Aibu to get a bit huffy with DH?

DH and I both work nightshifts at a high demand company. In the morning while he was sleeping, I had to attend a 2 hour meeting about improving the work place. It's all a load of shite as far as I'm concerned, all ideas were shot down by management. I left the meeting annoyed, managed to get back to sleep alright when I got home.

DH and I woke up and decided to get fish and chips for dinner before work. He jumped on his PlayStation and started playing a game and usually he would jump on for a bit to wake up and then we would get dinner together. Tonight he played for a while and when I said shall we get dinner soon he said "yeah shortly I'll just finish this match". I thought that meant in the next 5 mins or so. Half an hour later I am starving and we are going to be cutting ourselves short of time to get dinner and get ready.

I said are you nearly ready? He suggested I go out to get dinner myself while he stays home. Now here's where I'm not sure whether or not iabu. I said "I suppose so..I'd much rather you come though" in a bit of an annoyed tone, so he got up and then we went and got dinner. Good thing we got it when we did because we didn't have a great deal of time to get ready.

I know this doesn't seem like a big deal but my friend said I was a bit of a dick and should have gotten dinner myself. Problem is, I'll have to carry 3 bulky boxes, plus drinks through the front door, which is a pain in the arse to get through, just so he can play his game.

So, wibu? Or not? Husband hasn't really said anything but I could tell he was a little annoyed at the time

If i didn't have work I wouldn't have minded, because I could relax after dinner, but it turned into a bit of a rush, plus I had a 14 hour night shift ahead of me

Honestly the boxes are a massive waste of packaging!

I don’t think it’s that OP couldn’t do it solo, it’s more that she expected DP to be going to and he bailed on her in favour of the PS.
I can see how that would be annoying. Not a big deal but the kind of thing that grates when you’re sleep deprived and you’re waiting for him.

Nicknacky · 01/05/2019 19:03

So why not ask your husband to go while you relax? It’s just not a two person job.

1CantPickAName · 01/05/2019 19:04

Does he usually play ps while you do chores?

ApplePieIsAmazing · 01/05/2019 19:04

Nc4now you nailed it on the head. Of course I can go get the food on my own, if he said earlier he wanted to stay home not a problem, but I sat there waiting for him for no reason essentially

I thought Miss Piggy said don't eat anything bigger than your head?

BooksAndCatsAndBooksAndCats · 01/05/2019 19:05

I want a chippy now damnit

ApplePieIsAmazing · 01/05/2019 19:05

No he's quite good. We both chip (haha) in around the house quite equally.

OP posts:
Walkingdeadfangirl · 01/05/2019 19:07

Seriously I find it hard to believe you can't get FnChips yourself. And if it was that difficult just have something else to eat. That sort of attitude would seriously piss me off.

ApplePieIsAmazing · 01/05/2019 19:10

Eh maybe I was being Abu then, maybe I'll bring breakfast home as an apology

Is the same poster posting ridiculous threads under different names at the moment, or is there just a surge in utter nonsense?

nocoolnamesleft · 01/05/2019 19:13

You should have gone to the chippy yourself. And bought your own chips. Then told him you didn't think he was ready to eat.

You got 2 hours less sleep than him, so he is automatically the unreasonable one.

SunshineCake · 01/05/2019 19:15

Do you call yourself good too when you put a wash on ?

TixieLix · 01/05/2019 19:17

Chips would be cold when you got home if it's a 15 min drive

goldenchicken · 01/05/2019 19:25

Maybe you're stressed and pissed off today OP. Coz yeah you're being a bit of a drama queen. Enjoy your chips! Grin

Holidayshopping · 01/05/2019 19:31

If you’re driving, you don’t need a bag. Surely chips for two shouldn’t be that hard to carry?!

boringlyboring · 01/05/2019 19:33

‘Just finishing this match’ means ‘I’ve just started my third, but I’ll pretend it’s all the same match. Might have one more’

So, you had a few hours downtime before work. He wanted to play PlayStation, which as a grown man with no kids, he is entitled to do. He shouldn't have said 'I'll be ready in a minute.' But, if you wanted to go then, you should have said 'no worries, I fancy them right now, I'm going to get them.'
It sounds a bit like you want to be joined at the hip - when you do that, complete non issues like this become issues, because you always have to consider the other person rather than just do what you want.
The bit about can't carry 2 portions of fish and chips makes you sound ridiculous.

Crunchymum · 01/05/2019 19:36

Moan about him having had more sleep / downtime. Moan that you would rather spend time together than him gaming. Moan about being tired and having to attend a shit meeting.

Do not moan about having to "carry 3 bulky boxes and drinks through the front door which is a pain in the arse to get through" it makes you sound quite pathetic.

He could have opened the door for you? Or you could have put these gigantic boxes on the floor. Shock

ApplePieIsAmazing · 01/05/2019 19:49

I think you might be right goldenchicken. Thank you for not being nasty, some of these comments are unreal!

Biancadelrioisback · 01/05/2019 19:52

Honestly this is just sad. We used to take turns going to the chippy for the whole office on our own (8 people) and managed to walk all 8 boxes, size orders and drinks back to the office. How can you not drive food for 2 people home?!

ApplePieIsAmazing · 01/05/2019 19:54

I'm starting to think maybe I was just stressed and tired, although curious how many it took to get 8 orders in

Are you fucking serious?

Do you need him to hold your hand everywhere you go?

IsYourGoogleBroken · 01/05/2019 19:56

you happen to know the sizes of ALL boxes in every chippy

What are you having ? Cod or blue whale ? Im sure the chippie has a carrier bag. What a drama.
