Pockets in dresses. Sorry, but I really don't see what all the hype is about

Everyone on instagram seems to be obsessed with any garment that has pockets. I've tried to see the benefit, I really have. I've even started to post about dresses I own that have pockets, and wax lyrical about how much I love them, but I'm just not feeling it. I'd much rather carry a bag. What is the big deal with pockets??

In defence of pockets, I'm going to say that I like them as a decluttering method.

I have a couple of tunics with very big pockets which are very useful. As you go round the house you can fill them with discarded Lego pieces, Shopkins, bits of Blu-tak smuggled home from school, party bag toot, rubbers... (you get the picture). When I get to the kids' bedrooms I upend them onto the floor and shout at them to tidy it up (if I'm feeling generous). If I'm not I empty it all into the bin.

I bet Marie Kondo wishes she'd thought of this first.
