As the title says. I'm trying to find a great hotel for a debauched night away. Something either very romantic or very sexy. Budget up to £500.

Not keen on places with old fashioned patterned carpets and rugs that could be your Great Aunt Florrie's house!

Ideally in the Midlands / East Midlands but further afield could be ok.

Crazy Bear looks like it could be along the right lines but trip advisor reviews are not great.

Please hit me with your tried and tested recommendations.........

No idea what it now costs but Burgh Island is very romantic.

le Manoir didn’t do it for us.

North House in Cowes is a lovely boutique hotel with year round outdoor pool. Very charming service and well within budget.

I came on to suggest crazy bear - we loved it when we went, but it was 15 years ago so it may have gone downhill.

I think Warwick castle have rooms you can stay in in one of their medieval towers - that would be cool!

Which Crazy Bear is everyone talking about? I’ve heard good things about Beaconsfield.

Littlecaf · 29/04/2019 20:16

Malmaison Oxford

Littlecaf · 29/04/2019 20:17

CherryPavlova omg Burgh Island, good shout, not v close to Midlands though! Have watched from afar for 35 years, would love to stay there!

Thinkle · 29/04/2019 20:23

Ragdale Hall nr Melton Mowbray, it’s actually a dedicated spa but amazing (breakfast in bed, valet parking etc)

thundercats192 · 29/04/2019 20:39

Crazy Bear is fantastic if you get one of their best rooms.

geekone · 29/04/2019 20:50

Wtf is paradise hotel. My phone won’t evwn let me go on the website 🤣

Might be a bit far away OP but Glenapp castle with a four poster bed. Awesome

grubus · 29/04/2019 20:55

I've sometimes seen the Witchery at the Castle recommended as a romantic/sexy hotel. I would just say that furnishings were so dusty that my husband had an asthma attack! The tower room at Langley castle hotel was nice and it's very far away from anyone, so you can be quite noisy!

rabbitheadlights · 29/04/2019 20:57

21thelakes.com or .co.uk fab and beautiful but it's lake district

Mour Hotel off junction 27 (sherwood business park). Used to be called the Dakota Hotel
Has a leather, black and red theme going with dim lighting - I have stayed there and it was “sexy” and quite boutique

Have a look at Strattons in Norfolk if its not too far

ChoccieEClaire · 29/04/2019 21:23

Or the Pigs in Norfolk as well

cunningartificer · 29/04/2019 21:44

Poet’s House in Ely; Francis Hotel in Bath; The Cottage in the Woods in Malvern (amazing views, food, service but could do with updating)

Mammyofonlyone · 29/04/2019 21:48

Yorebridge House in Bainbridge nr Hawes N. York's. Get a room with a riverside hot tub. V small, lovely countryside, intimate and amazing restaurant

barrelohflaughs · 29/04/2019 22:00

I second the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool or their sister hotel 30 James Street - home of the titanic

furrybadger · 29/04/2019 22:00

Ramside hall, celebration suite, absolutely phenomenal

Livvylovesgin · 29/04/2019 22:17

One poster: Crazy bear was full of total liggers that had got a cheap deal from Groupon when we went which puts me off it a bit.

OP, I recommend Foxhill Manor. It's next to the Dormy House hotel/spa and you get entrance to the spa included. Also, access to downstairs bar and Prosecco on tap (all freeeee all day!). Fabulous

Love the bathroom in The Turret.

Amazing modern spa and grounds too

Hotel Casa in Chesterfield. Strange location but fab hotel. The more expensive rooms have jacuzzis outside.
