You'll be fine. Food doesn't immediately turn toxic at the stroke midnight on it's use-by date. If it smelled fine and tasted fine then it was fine.

Personally, I don't set too much store by use-by dates. They weren't on anything when I was growing up in the seventies. You checked the food visually and by smell. There was no problem telling whether or not it was safe to eat. I am still here.

I think use-by dates are responsible for a huge proportion today's waste of perfectly good food. They should be banned. I thought supermarkets were going to do this, or was it only on certain goods? They're still there though.

I know of people who just throw things out of the fridge if it is past it's date. Perfectly plump tomatoes and vegetables that are fine and they end up in the bin. That is encouraged by these dates, which are purely arbitrary anyway. Too many people don't seem able to use the senses they were born with anymore.

I ate a beef burger that had gone a bit brown and smelt a bit. It smelt less once cooked, but half way through eating it and deciding it tasted funny too I left it. That was a few days ago, no side effects. Our bodies are designed to protect us and kill germs.

I take literally no notice of dates. I am perfectly capable of seeing, smelling and/or tasting whether something is off or not.

I regularly eat yoghurts that are a month or more out of date with no ill effects.

People take far too much notice of dates and throw perfectly good food away.
