to get in a cleaner more than twice a week

With 2 kids under 4 and a lazy partner as well as ft work cleaning is giving me the rage. Does anyone get a cleaner in more than twice a week? I am seriously considering Monday Wednesday and Friday. To go through the ever growing pile of laundry as well.

If you can afford it why not

Jojobythesea · 24/04/2019 22:23

If you can afford it definitely. Why not?

Babuchak · 24/04/2019 22:26

if you can afford it, you can even have a daily cleaner.

It really is not such an outrageous concept: some families have au-pair and nannies, who do keep on top of the kids belongings - and they have a cleaner on top of that.
Some wealthy families have full-time help.

If you need more hours to include your laundry, why not?

My DM had a Cleaner who came in Monday Wednesday Friday - I wish I could afford it too. The windows were cleaned regularly, beds were changed weekly, washing and ironing done, furniture moved. She was great. My cleaner only comes once a fortnight and keeps on top of the basics but the bigger stuff I still do.

happyhillock · 24/04/2019 22:27

If you can afford it don't see why not.

FurrySlipperBoots · 24/04/2019 22:28

Heck, if you can afford it you can have a live-in housekeeper! I would personally focus on having expectations of the OH and children, but a cleaner is the easier route!

Rainatnight · 24/04/2019 22:29

I used to. It was amazing. Do it if you can afford it.

Pinkprincess1978 · 24/04/2019 22:29

Do it if you can afford it. If I had the money I would have someone come in every day to clean my home.

GinZing · 24/04/2019 22:30

Yes do it! What’s to lose?

Fr3d · 24/04/2019 22:30

Yes, i know someone who has one who comes Mon Wed Fri. Not me unfortunately. The person does very little housework (lots of other work). Laundry, cleaning etc all done

SD1978 · 24/04/2019 22:31

I would, so that all the daily tasks you described are also kept on top off, as well as the 'big' cleaning tasks. All comes down to if you can afford the outsource, and it improves your quality of life, go for it.

Longislandicetee · 24/04/2019 22:32

Yes mine comes 3 times a week. Makes a huge difference!

ambereeree · 24/04/2019 22:33

I could only dream of live in help! 2 hours every other day is the way forward I think. I can't get on top of the cleaning and laundry without being utterly exhausted.

we have our cleaner come for 2 hours monday and friday and an hour tue/wed/thurs. either 9-10am or 9-11am. she does general cleaning, sorts the dishwasher, bathrooms, hoovers/mops floors, strips the beds, does the ironing and on friday puts out fresh flowers. we pay £80 a week and its money well spent as it means we do very little housework (we work FT) and always come home to a calm, clean, relaxed atmosphere!

VimFuego101 · 24/04/2019 23:37

If you can afford it it seems totally worth it to me to remove the stress.

user1473878824 · 24/04/2019 23:53

We used to have one twice a week (before I moved in sadly, then worked out why I came round on Tuesday and Fridays!) it was MAGIC. If you can afford it why not? It just takes all the edge off both of you.

pickme · 25/04/2019 01:11

Go for it. I only have once a week but I only work 3 days so we do every other day between us. Best money I spend.

florentina1 · 25/04/2019 08:05

I used to have a cleaner 3 mornings a week. There were 3 full time working adults in the house and it was lovely to come home to a sparkly house.

ssd · 25/04/2019 10:32

Macandcheeses set up sounds brilliant

Oly4 · 25/04/2019 10:34

Do it! Mine comes twice a week (once to help with laundry) but I’d love more!

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 25/04/2019 10:38

That sounds amazing Macandcheese! I would love to have that. We’re fortunate that we have a cleaner once a week but your set up would be heaven

TheLazyDuchess · 25/04/2019 10:53

You could give her some overtime and try the extra hours for a few weeks, to see if it makes enough of a difference to be worth it long term? Assuming you can afford it.

hedgehoglurker · 25/04/2019 11:03

Think about how long your washing machine cycles are - will they have enough time to wash, dry and put away a load in 2hrs? If not, consider at least one longer day per week ie 2hrs on Mon, 4hrs on Thur.

Prequelle · 25/04/2019 11:09

My cleaner doesn't do beds and ironing and absolutely wouldn't do a load of washing, she says that's for maids to do?

I think I might look for a new cleaner!

MrsMozartMkII · 25/04/2019 11:12

A friend had one 7 days a week. Decided that was excessive and cut down to 5 days. But the family didn't clear up after themselves on the 2 days, which really wasn't fair on the cleaner!
