How do you pronounce Prince Louis name

Trival i know, but the radio station i'm listening to this morning keeps pronoucing it Lew-is (as in the Tv dectective) and its really anmoying me because its Lou-ee (as in walsh or tomlinson) isn't it?

Now i know there is some confusion about how you pronounce Eugenie's name wether its eu- JANE-y or Eu- Gene-y and prince Harry's name is some what of a throw bavk to how they would have pronounced Henry in the 15c.

So I'm wondering if i've missed something and the Palace have actally said its pronouced Lew-is rather than the lou-ee pronoucation that would normally assoccated with the name.

I read somewhere that the reason the Royal Children have weird hair & clothing in all official photographs/outings is that it makes it more difficult to recognise them when they go out dressed normally & with normal hair? No idea if it’s true or not though!

foxtiger · 24/04/2019 08:04

I've met people called Louis pronounced both ways, but I know this particular Louis's parents want it to be Louie so that's how I would pronounce it in this case.

I'm still boggling at the fact that he's 1. It doesn't seem like a year, and I'm almost sure that's because there hasn't been as much publicity about him as there was about the other two when they were babies.

(but in those photos he looks about 4 - who gives a 1-year-old a side parting?!)

PreseaCombatir · 24/04/2019 08:29

I’ve just has a look at the pictures, and aww, I love it.
He looks so cute with his little jumper and hair sweep.

LarkDescending · 24/04/2019 10:37

The Guardian gave a rather positive review of the photography merits.

LaurieMarlow · 24/04/2019 10:40

Yeah I read that article and thought it was a nice interpretation of Kate’s efforts. It seemed quite invested in sticking the boot into Harry though.

LarkDescending · 24/04/2019 10:45

Yes it seemed rather mean to Harry (whose photographs I hadn’t seen before).

Jux · 24/04/2019 11:35

Lots of people give 1 year olds side partings, @foxtiger.

BertrandRussell · 24/04/2019 11:36

“Lots of people give 1 year olds side partings, ”

And it always looks awful!

mouldyhousemouldylife · 24/04/2019 11:38

I'd read it as Looee but I do know a Louis pronounced Lewis.

PreseaCombatir · 24/04/2019 12:57

And it always looks awful!
Aww, no, I totally disagree! I think it looks smart, especially for a party or something.

BackforGood · 24/04/2019 13:24

Can anyone link to the photos please, so we can all join the conversation ? Smile

Jux · 24/04/2019 13:32

@BertrandRussell, I disagree. As @PreseaCombatir said, smart for a party. It doesn't stay like that for long anyway! Just about long enough to take some pics.

SleepingSloth · 24/04/2019 13:38

The photos of him are lovely, a very beautiful little boy who looks very much like his mum.

werideatdawn · 24/04/2019 13:47

What if your kids hair just parts that way?Confused my son had a side parting for ages until his hair grew longer because that's just the direction his hair grew..

LarkDescending · 24/04/2019 14:06

First birthday photographs of Prince Louis

BackforGood · 24/04/2019 14:26

Love the one of all 5 of them Smile
