Stayed in York in a very posh hotel for a wedding on Thursday and the hotel room was amazing- 4 poster bed, bath in the room etc but this was on the back of the door.. very bizarre!!

So humour me- what's the weirdest thing you've found in a hotel?

EnglishRose13 · 22/04/2019 11:57

Dog poo under the bed.

makingmammaries · 22/04/2019 11:59

Toenail clippings in the bed, broken glass under roommate’s pillow. Central Asia, 1994. Them were t’days.

makingmammaries · 22/04/2019 12:00

Also, cockroaches in an expensive Geneva clinic where I was booked in for a cesarean.

MayFayner · 22/04/2019 12:07

A prosthetic leg. It was during my student days when I worked weekends cleaning hotel rooms.

It was behind the curtain so I just saw the foot poking out. I had to work up the nerve to whip the curtain back to see who or what tf it was.

Whattodofgs · 22/04/2019 12:21

A gecko in Italy.

EnglishRose13 · 22/04/2019 12:22

At least I think it was dog poo.

Oh god, it might not have been...

CupOhTea · 22/04/2019 12:27

Former hotel receptionist;

White powder and blood all over a table was the weirdest and they were the weirdest couple too. We also had a couple trying to have sec in the shower, when she fell and broke her wrist. They were totally shit faced so told us “we were having sex” 😂. So proud. I remember the paramedics not being too impressed with them though.

Skittlesss · 22/04/2019 12:45

I used to work as a chambermaid. Often found used condoms, all bodily fluids, used sanitary products, drug paraphernalia and drugs (needles or traces of white powder and credit cards). It was a naice hotel as well. Grin

Mari50 · 22/04/2019 12:53

Friend found a dirty sock in her bed. In the middle of the night. Bleugh.
I found some condoms under the bed once. It wasn’t the classiest hotel though.
Various disgusting insects as well but they weren’t weird.

AlmostGrockle · 22/04/2019 12:55

A four poster bed, but with the curtains missing.

Ilovewillow · 22/04/2019 13:01

Some of these are grim! Hot water bottle and no kettle Grin! We stayed at "The Ned" fabulous hotel but all of the toiletries had their own labelled bags so cotton wool, sewing kit etc, including tampons and condoms!!

JuniorAsparagus · 22/04/2019 13:02

We found a dirty sock under the bed in a hotel in Australia in the morning when we were checking to make sure we hadn't left anything. The hotel proprietor was not at all apologetic that the room hadn't been cleaned properly before our arrival.
I think I might have mentioned it on Trip Advisor.😉

Whatdoidoforever · 22/04/2019 13:08

I have been a housekeeper in a naice, independent hotel. Sex toys. So many. And an Ann Summers advent calendar box, just the box though. Plus the usual, barely touched expensive cake, half full packs of sweets, bottles of drink, pants, etc. Once 3 empty bottles of gin, after a one night stay, I thought that was pretty impressive.

Breathingbecominganissue · 22/04/2019 13:10

Found a leopard print thong on a sofa in a hotel in Las Vegas (gross, but on theme I suppose!)
Put them in the bin using ice bucket tongs (which I did not use thereafter!)

Queenofmyownheart · 22/04/2019 13:22

I work as a housekeeper in a fairly run down hotel and good lord the things I see 😂 sex toys, used condoms, pissed beds etc

One particularly energetic couple left a large hole in the wall 😂

Other than that the most interesting things have been drugs, empty methadone bottles etc

LesLavandes · 22/04/2019 13:34

I went on a trip with friend. The first thing she did when we entered our room was check under the bed. After enquiring 'why', she (who works for an airline), told me one of her colleagues discovered a dead body under the bed in a hotel room!

pookoo · 22/04/2019 13:44

House keeping as a student;

Severe diarrhoea with the bed re-made perfectly over it.

An extremely dirty sex toy (again, under the sheets...)

Used condom in a tea cup.

Very hairy soap dropped in the loo.

A toilet practically filled to the top with shit and loo roll.

Blood all over sheets, and bloody handprints on wall - this turned out to be a couple where the lady brazenly apologised for the mess in the room at reception, and to just charge her card. I didn't get any extra for cleaning it, though 😂😫

That's a collection of the worst, there are numerous other mildly disgusting things/events I could list.

Andromeida59 · 22/04/2019 13:59

A half full bottle of baby oil that was left on a bed after the room had been cleaned and the bed was made. Confused

CupOhTea · 22/04/2019 14:28

We had a few long term guests and they stored all sorts of smelly foods in their rooms. The housekeeping staff had no idea what was rubbish and what wasn’t and hated cleaning their rooms. I always thought, if you had wanted somewhere you could cook your own food, a hotel was a bit of a strange choice!

buttermilkwaffles · 22/04/2019 14:28

Shit on the bedspread of the bed I had been sleeping in the night before. Only noticed it when I was tidying up the room to leave and checking that I had left nothing behind. Not a shit stain on a bedspread that had been washed and not come out properly, but an actual clump of dried shit complete with an arse hair.Grin From someone who clearly had some stomach issues and had just used the bedspread to wipe their arse! Envy

Funny thing is the hotel sent me one of those generic feedback forms by email and I complained using that, but they never bothered responding to me, makes you wonder why they bother asking for feedback! Due to no response, I left a scathing Google review with photo as evidence (over 10,000 views so far) and they ignored that too although they responded to lots of other reviews left before and after mine (mostly just the positive ones though) so I know they read them...

CupOhTea · 22/04/2019 14:34

At a vair naice place I worked in last year, some poor woman who had far too much to drink, unfortunately shat herself in the loos in the restaurant. It was everywhere and she’d used those rolled up hand towel things they have in nice places instead of hand driers to clean herself up 🤢. I felt so sorry for her, but more so for my boss who had to clean it up in time for the next service.

NewYoiker · 22/04/2019 15:46

@CupOhTea oh my god thats awful!

I was once mortified when I stayed in a very smart hotel, I had my period unexpectedly and it was very heavy and woke up to find the bed clothes completely soaked in blood. I could not ever look at the staff.

I never use the hotel kettle after someone told me guests quite often boil their pants in there. Could have been a joke but I was traumatised.

We once went to stay at a villa on France, all lovely, my DH's parents came to stay for one of the two weeks we were there. When we left I checked everything and found a rather expensive pair of black silk knickers (dirty) , I thought they must belong to my MIL, because they were in the room they had been in. I brought them home in a nappy bag, forgot to wash them. Then when PIL next came to visit about three months later, I said I'd found MIL's knickers in France and presented them in the nappy bag, next morning my FIL comes down and says they aren't hers can I dispose of them Blush.

CupOhTea · 22/04/2019 16:24

😂 oh @thewashingmachine. How dirty are we talking?!
