So I'm not sure if I am being incredibly judgemental, but my friend's kid is 10, 11 in June and he still believes..

I've never come across a kid that old who still believed. I'm sure me and all my friends clocked on way before then...it seems a little strange to me that at 10 you can still truly believe a giant bunny hops around the world delivering eggs?

By 9- or even by 7 - I want my children curious and questioning about the world around them. I want them to be learning to think, and to realize for themselves that the myths of their childhood are just that- myths and stories. I want them to be starting to be able to recognize bullshit when someone tries to feed it to them.......

betrand you can want that all you like but you can't decide it. Believing in fairy tales also isn't usually do to a lack of curiosity - everything kids understabd including science at that age is because they've been told it by an authority figure. Kids also sometimes believe because they want to and enjoy it. They have a greater ability than an adult to immerse themselves in stories because they have better imaginations. We don't need to reframe this as a lack of intellectual curiosity. Children and families are all different - only an insecure person has to insist everyone different from themselves is doing things wrong.

Of course families and children are different. But I am perfectly prepared to say that a NT 9 year old still believing in the Easter Bunny is wrong. But I am also prepared o believe that they don’t. They go along with the fiction either because it’s fun and they enjoy it or to please their parents or because they don’t want to risk no chocolate!

Who cares? What's it got to do with you?

Yes it's too old in fact everybody is too old for such a waste of time - what even is the Easter Bunny???

BertrandRussell I agree with this entirely. You've summarised my own toughts well!
