If you could go back and chose a career all over again, regardless of what qualifications you'd need or commitments you now have what would you chose? And could you still do it?

I'd like to have been a barrister or a teacher. Too late now (50s)

TroysMammy · 20/04/2019 20:25

Zookeeper or kitten cuddler.

Singleandproud · 20/04/2019 20:33

Something outdoors, I worked as an outdoor activity instructor before having DD and hate working indoors but needs must and I now have a good termtime only job (the holy grail, I know) but still miss being outdoors.

When DD is grown and no longer in need of childcare over the holidays I hope to work for the Wildlife trust as an education officer or something similar.

Alarae · 20/04/2019 20:45

I actually do love my job now (private client tax advisory) however if money wasn't an issue, I would definitely be a zookeeper for big cats Grin

Neonatal nurse. I'm considering applying to start child nursing next year but having dropped out of an (adult) nursing course 10 years ago I'm not sure if this is silly..Confused

MakeLemonade · 20/04/2019 20:51

I’ve just watched Homecoming and I’d really like to be Beyoncé. Looks so fun.

MintyCedric · 20/04/2019 20:52

Something artistic...if not an artist, then maybe an animator or film/theatre set designer.

Equimum · 20/04/2019 20:54

I wanted to be a doctor throughout school, but I didn’t have the confidence or support and have always regretted/resented it.

If I could magically become anything now, I would be a clinical psychologist.

ateaspoonplease · 20/04/2019 20:55

Also have something in my heart that wonders about midwife, although I know I am probably romanticising the job and I'm sure that there are realistically stresses in the job that other midwives could tell me about that I am not taking into consideration

ladybirdsaredotty · 20/04/2019 20:56

Make Grin

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 20/04/2019 21:10

Make up artist.

I know the market is saturated. Always wanted to do a course but had no money/not the right time. Could never find the course.

Now have two children and a mortgage. I'd like to do occassion make up or work on corrie!

NCforthis2019 · 20/04/2019 21:14

Radio DJ

Hopeygoflightly · 20/04/2019 21:15

Carpenter. Might still in fact.

PumpkinPie2016 · 20/04/2019 21:20

Police Officer - my parents talked me out of it because it was dangerous. I'm certain it has it's dangerous moments but one of my biggest regrets is not going for it Sad

I'm only 32 and if the opportunity arises in the next few years I may well apply. Even if I don't get in, at least I will have tried.

MarthasGinYard · 20/04/2019 21:22

Ranger in British National Park

HoppityChicken · 20/04/2019 21:28

Hopeygoflighty - I know a woman in their 30s who switched from quite a corporate but dull graphic design job to carpentry. Had some savings to fall back on but never really dipped into them.

Riding instructor or dressage trainer. Just any job with horses. Unfortunately, due to hip pain, the riding side is out, but I could do the standing in the middle/sitting at the side giving instruction.

Charley50 · 20/04/2019 21:39

Artist (which I trained in) or singer.

Mousetolioness · 20/04/2019 21:44

Veterinary nurse or gardener/garden designer!

Giggorata · 20/04/2019 21:48

Film director or set design.

FurrySlipperBoots · 20/04/2019 21:52

Exactly what I do now - nannying! I mean ideally I'd like to be a foster parent but that's not really a job as such. I used to dream of being a hospital play specialist but I don't regret not following that path - I could never have coped with children dying. In another life I'll come back as the sort of person who could do it, and then I will.

NW2SW · 20/04/2019 22:01

Dentist or chiropractor.

Lifecraft · 20/04/2019 22:05

Tree surgeon.....but I can't stand the sight of sap.

MaryPopppins · 20/04/2019 22:05

The only job that I would do on Christmas Day would be something caring for animals.

So I figure that's what I should have worked in.

I love all animals. They're incredible.

Once DD is older I may take that path anyway.

MsJaneAusten · 20/04/2019 22:07

Post lady. I google jobs from time to time but vacancies are rare here.
