To ask you for help with my bits?

I was reading an old MN thread about how bar soap and a flannel is much better than body wash. I've had two showers now with soap and a flannel, and I think I must have gone a bit gung ho on my bits because they are very, very sore. Soap clearly does not agree with me.

Does anybody have any ideas about how to calm things down? So far all I have done is slather myself in sudocrem, and it hasn't done much. I had to duck out of a family trip to pizza express because I didn't fancy sitting there in agony. Gutted.

Metanium nappy cream. The one in the yellow tube that looks like clay. Slap it on tonight and you'll be better by morning.

Batshittery · 20/04/2019 18:12

Try some vagifem. I think it has a numbing effect to kill any itch.

SoreFannyRedFace · 20/04/2019 18:13

@Ewitsahooman got some upstairs, excellent

Soap + fanjo = thrush in my experience, you might need to get some canesten. Or the soap might have just dried it out hence the soreness. Nappy cream sounds like a good idea.

TTQuestion · 20/04/2019 18:15

Well really you shouldn't use soap on your bits. The threads about using soap mean for your body. Do you have thrush now?

S0uthernBelle · 20/04/2019 18:15

Also just plain water on your bits is best. No need for fancy ‘feminine washes’ .

SoreFannyRedFace · 20/04/2019 18:16

@Duchessgummybuns I hope it's not thrush 😑 everything just feels dry and tender, doesn't thrush mean you have discharge etc? Not 100% sure I've ever had it

Don't use soap!!! wince

Wheresmyvagina · 20/04/2019 18:17

Jesus soap in the vagina is a recipe for infection. Don't use anything other than water to wash your vulva.

SoreFannyRedFace · 20/04/2019 18:17

@S0uthernBelle I have read that too, but I have always used shower gel etc because I'm worried I wouldn't be properly fresh without washing with something? Am I just being daft?

Raera · 20/04/2019 18:19

If it's thrush, yogurt helps (not to eat!)

SoreFannyRedFace · 20/04/2019 18:19

I feel like a right dickhead now 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was once told that if you didn't wash the inside of your mouth with it it belongs nowhere near your nether region being me I asked the question about toothpaste they still wince when thinking about my question Blush nothing but water goes near the nether

S0uthernBelle · 20/04/2019 18:22

I’ve used just plain water on my bits my whole adult life (41) and I’ve not had any problems down there .... it’s self cleaning you know.

Paperdolly · 20/04/2019 18:23

When I’d suffered for aaaaaaages I finally plucked up the courage and asked for a female GP. She prescribed a steroid cream to be used for about 5 days and advised I carry in with the Hibiscrib I purchased on line and buy basic but good moisturising cream. In shower, Hibiscrub first, rinse, loads of moisturising cream, rinse, pat dry. Add steroid cream if still inflamed..

Hope you get sorted soon. 💐

SoreFannyRedFace · 20/04/2019 18:23

So plain water...do you mean on the outside too (where hair grows)?

OP posts:
cranstonmanor · 20/04/2019 18:24

Is the inside ir the outside irritated?

Wheresmyvagina · 20/04/2019 18:25

You can use shower gel on your pubes but be careful not to get it on your actual vulva.
Washing the vulva only needs water.

SoreFannyRedFace · 20/04/2019 18:25

Inside, but the outside doesn't feel great either

OP posts:
FaithInfinity · 20/04/2019 18:25

Yup water only here too, as long as it’s trimmed regularly that’s fine.
I would avoid putting much on the area but have found a flannel dunked in cold water can be soothing.

cranstonmanor · 20/04/2019 18:25

You can use soap on the outside, if you mean where tge skin is attached to your leg. Just make sure no soap gets inside, and that includes your inner labia.

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/04/2019 18:25

The outer bits aren't self cleaning! (ie vulva).

Gronky · 20/04/2019 18:26

There are specific 'intimate wash' products if you find water alone is insufficiently cleansing. Bar soap is a bad idea because it dries everything out and causes the outer surface to slough off.

S0uthernBelle · 20/04/2019 18:26

Skin around, groin and where the hair grows I use just a plain soap or body wash.

cranstonmanor · 20/04/2019 18:26

For the outside I recommend sudo cream (nappy cream). For the inside canesten as pp have said to calm things down
