Bloody hell. I went swimming earlier today as normal. Getting dried, I noticed my bum was stinging & I made a note to check it out when I got home. Well bloody hell it seems I have a haemorrhoid the size of a small baked bean! I'm horrified. It's not like I've just given birth or something. I eat a healthy diet & don't strain on the loo. Neither do I spend all day sitting around. I've no idea why this happened to me but what I do know is it's f*ing painful. I feel so ashamed. How did you get rid of yours? I don't want this to ever happen again.

Why on earth do you feel ashamed?? I've had piles the size of potatoes for years and couldn't give a flying fuck. Pharmacies sell pile cream, just try that.

Groovee · 18/04/2019 20:59

I had suppositories from the GP. But I also had a skin tag. Nothing helped so after 11 years, I had surgery. Not had an issue since.

BadPennyNoBiscuit · 18/04/2019 21:01

Pound shop pile cream, keep it in the fridge.
If that doesn't sort it see your GP, theres an operation they can do where they basically stretch your bum hole and they all pop back into place.

SplinterSplit · 18/04/2019 21:03

'Piles the size of potatoes' Shock I can't imagine how much that must have hurt because mine stings like a bitch...

I just don't understand how it came. I don't strain on the loo or sit too long. It just appeared after swimming Confused

Witch hazel on a cotton ball wedged between your bum cheeks. It contain something that helps inflammation, itching and slows bleeding. This helped me more then cream.

Anothertempusername · 18/04/2019 21:13

I gave birth 4 days ago. These piles are something else. I'm not ashamed; I'm in fucking agony! Sitz baths with lavender and witch hazel and lots of Anusol is how I'm planning on obliterating them! Can't sit down. So that's fun.

Fr3d · 18/04/2019 21:14

Just kinda push it back in if you can

ItWentDownMyHeartHole · 18/04/2019 21:18

I suggest you go to see your doctor just to check it is a pile. Don’t bother spending on Boots special pile cream, get a prescription. Hopefully that will sort it. Sorry you’re uncomfortable 😣

Amanduh · 18/04/2019 21:18

Cream. Suppositories. Time

DippyAvocado · 18/04/2019 21:21

The thing that worked for me was the anusol suppositories with hydrocortisone added. I think mine were internal so the suppositories worked better than cream.

Persimmonn · 18/04/2019 21:24

I’ve had them for years now (7 to be exact). Got them with my ds and never went away. Mine are also internal and make farting difficult. I’m not ashamed, just pissed off that I wasn’t told by anyone before having kids that I might get the fuckers. I also have chronic anal fissures that come and go. Those beauties are courtesy of dc3. My kids are literally a pain in the arse.

Nightlights · 18/04/2019 21:28

Germaloids- topical for external and suppositories for internal. My post-birth piles were horrific and this sorted them

Funnyface1 · 18/04/2019 21:44

Why are you ashamed?

LotsToThinkOf · 18/04/2019 21:48

Steroid anusol for post birth - never been in so much agony, not had an issue since.

Not sure why you’re ashamed though? I was really embarrassed but not ashamed, they don’t signal a terrible lifestyle.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 18/04/2019 21:48

This is a totally stupid question Blush but I have had piles ever since the DTs. I just kinda assumed that's how things are now. Is it really true that pile cream helps?

Mine don't bother me other than just being there and having to clean carefully after the loo.

I have always assumed pile cream was a gimmick......

AntiHop · 18/04/2019 21:58

I've had them since my 20s. Got worse after dd. Even though I'm a vegetarian and eat loads of fibre, I get a bit constipated easily. Had an operation to remove them but I got more! I also get fissures.

I take moviciol daily these days.

I saw a consultant who said it's just bad luck.

Soulsista14 · 18/04/2019 22:00

Another one with post birth haemorrhoids. Germaloid cream is the only thing that works for me. Used 4 times a day and I’m usually feeling much better by the next day.

Soulsista14 · 18/04/2019 22:01

My GP did tell me that once you have haemorrhoids they will always be there. They might get smaller and you won’t be able to feel them but they’ll certainly reappear again at some point.

MsMarvellous · 18/04/2019 22:03

Prescription haemorrhoid cream. Did me nicely.

Persimmonn · 19/04/2019 00:07

I read a really good article about piles once. Essentially, if you think of a some tights stretching and falling down your leg, that’s what piles are. Because the internal skin loosens, it wrinkles up and hangs. Horrid. Anusol rarely works for me now. I just live with it and drink loads of water.

FineWordsForAPorcupine · 19/04/2019 00:19

I first got them at 19. No reason why - no chronic constipation, no childbirth - just one day I wore a thong and wondered why my arse hurt the next day. Since then they reappear from time to time - weirdly, any kind of clothing wedgie/thong rubbing is a guarantee to anger them - but a bit of anusol sorts them out.

I felt like a freak - piles were for old people and new mums, not teenagers. And I didn't truly feel OK about it until my current boyfriend (who is younger than me and v fit and active, healthy diet, etc) casually one time mentioned that his had popped up and were causing him discomfort. I bravely told him that I had cream if he needed it and then felt like I'd come out or something :)

Honestly, there's no need for embarrassment - if they weren't so common, there wouldn't be treatments for sale in every single supermarket!

Islands81 · 19/04/2019 00:46

I am somewhat of an expert on Farmer Giles. I got them after the birth of dd1 15 years ago, and were made worse by dd2’s arrival 9 years ago.

I had surgery on them (ligation) 3 years ago. All was well for about a year, then I was back to square one.

Creams/suppositories do nothing to help. The doctor told me that they are pretty useless and he’s right.

The last consultant basically said it was just something I’d have to live with. It’s a shame because I miss being able to have bum sex Blush (only on Fridays of course).

m4rdybum · 19/04/2019 04:43

A pile cream with hydrocortisone in should help. I also used to have baths which made it easier to push them back in. All was sorted within a week.

No need to be ashamed - we all have a bumhole Grin

Thepacksurvives · 19/04/2019 06:20

I hate mine, and I'm definitely embarrassed, I just totally exclude some positions with my husband now.

The cream hasn't worked for me. I need to try the suppositories. Maybe a daft question but can anyone using them tell me what the leaflet saus re breastfeeding?
