Hello there mums.i m a mother of 2 boys first one is 4 and a half and the second one is 3 months old. I have noticed him.not tracking any movements be it toys or my fave. He does noit make eye contact either. He does however look at lights n follows them. Its driving me insane the morw i read about it. I am goibg to visit a.doc on saturday. Just want to know if anyone has come accross this with their kids or any other insight on this topic that wud reassure me or otherwise guide me what steps should i take. In his first chek up the day he was born his red reflux or reflex i dont know was marked absent and at the 2 week chek up the doc said thatnits present now nothing to worry about. After that hus eyes have not been checked. Thank u

Bless you. Older one won't miss too much school, in the grand scheme of things and you'll be home before you know it, with the little one on the mend 💐

Excellent news!

I teach a child with nystagmus and occular albinism and they manage to access the curriculum and actually do very, very well. A very bright child.

It's amazing how children adapt. The instinct to learn can overcome any physical limitations. I hope all continues to go well Thanks

Sabawaqas · 29/04/2019 05:20

So v met the doc t9day regarding the surgery he says everything is fine. Contact lenses will be given for vision correction and then monitored. However he was worried about optic nerve hypoplasia. Will carry put test for it. And related problems which r not very gud to hear about. I really.hope n pray dat my child dusnt have to go through any other troubles and that.he gets cured n fit after the currently ongping procedures
And insight on optic nerve hyoplasia or de morsier syndrome( which he said cud be a possobility and which i pray never happens)
M.worried all over again. Poor baby gets so exhausted with all the drops n tests n rs in the hospital.

Oh that's such a worry but you are in the right place and hopefully you'll get a definite diagnosis soon. Take care
🙏🏻

MotherOfDragonite · 29/04/2019 11:30

The most important thing is that he is being checked and any problems are found so they can be treated properly! Fingers crossed for you all.

AhhhHereItGoes · 29/04/2019 11:48

I have Nystagmus and a visual impairment. I don't follow things as my eyes wobble the wrong way.

My Mum noticed the exact same thing when I was 3/4 months and got me several assessments.

AhhhHereItGoes · 29/04/2019 11:55

Ps my eye condition is optic nerve hypoplasia so feel free to ask me questions if you need to.
Thinking of your little boy.

jinglet · 03/05/2019 22:50

So glad to hear everything is okay with the baby. Again, well done for acting on your mummy instincts and getting your baby the help he needed. I can't believe how quickly things moved. Sending lots of love and prayers your way.

FoxSquadKitten · 14/09/2019 14:54

How is your baby doing @Sabawaqas? Any update? Thanks

Sabawaqas · 18/09/2019 13:11

Hello there long time. My bad got so busy with baby. He is doing alot better. He had his cataracts removed but developed glaucoma after 3 weeks in left eye so had to be operated in emergency as pressures went up to 64. Post op was a difficult time as pressure went risky low to 3 n 4 but stabilised gradually. Then the whole glasses prescription follow ups. 1 n half month later the left eye decided to b naughty again. A pupilary membrane had developed blocking his vision hence another surgery. Since then has been quiet n hoping the eyes behave themselves now. A genetic workup needs to be done to find d cause lets c when v get an app for that. He is growing up well thank God. Can see things responds well. Thanx for asking
