Flowers from Next. 30 pounds a bunch!

Whatjusthappenedthere · 17/04/2019 17:58

Ordered 2 bouquets of flowers with vases to be placed on a birthday party table tonight.

AIBU to want a refund? It’s a significant birthday and I ordered these to save myself a bit of prep time.
I appreciate good flowers are expensive but is this really what to expect for £60.00 ?

The picture is of what was delivered compared to what I ordered.

I was going to order my mum some for Easter weekend, thanks for the heads up OP,I shall go to the florist 🌸 instead!

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 17/04/2019 18:45

I’ve given up sending flowers, tbh. Some unscrupulous florists abuse the fact that the recipient has no notion that the pathetic little bunch they’ve received bears no resemblance to what’s been ordered.
I’ve even had the extras like chocolates and balloons (extra special occasion!) left off and only realised through a chance remark much later.
Shysters, most of them

ghostyslovesheets · 17/04/2019 18:46

complain - they are not good - like you I use Next a lot - always had lovely flowers so that's a let down

RomanyQueen1 · 17/04/2019 18:48

I wouldn't have thought they grew flowers, so their provider isn't very good or they are old.
I just buy local of our market, they are beautiful and you'd get half the stall for £60

I was sent next flowers once. Lasted days. Just thrown out my Bloom and Wild ones delivered on Mothering Sunday. They are excellent. All delivered in a letterbox sized box.

HazelBite · 17/04/2019 18:59

Next and M&S cannot be relied upon for online Flowers.
The best used to be from ASDA online but unfortunately they stopped doing them . I now use Serenata for sending flowers online, (who appear quite reliable) but for arrangements for a party table I would use a good local florist, or even luxury bouquets made up by the likes of Tesco, ASDA, or Sainsbury.

Fridakahlofan · 17/04/2019 19:25

Can I recommend flowers from the farm in future! Local and often organically grown and usually cheaper.

The flowers in your picture are imported from abroad and covered in chemicals (as are Freddie’s flowers etc). DREADFUL for the environment!

Deadringer · 17/04/2019 19:32

Aside from the price, which is ridiculous for what you got, the arrangement is awful, too much green stuff and not enough flowers.

hannonle · 17/04/2019 20:02

Looks like you got three of each of the main flowers like in the photo, but not enough baby flowers to make up the volume.
Their photo is with all the flowers in a semi circle of vase but yours would still lack volume displayed in the same way.

The whole bunch is vastly over priced for 9 main blooms and a bit of foliage.

Flockingflamingo · 17/04/2019 20:05

Part of it is in the arranging- although you've not been given enough foliage.

Sexnotgender · 17/04/2019 20:09

Just thrown out my Bloom and Wild ones delivered on Mothering Sunday.

Lucky you! B&W delivered my mum a half dead bunch of crap. I’d used them previously with no issues but these were dreadful.

FredaFox · 17/04/2019 20:18

I've never had issues with b&w either, my mum also only three gets out today from mothers day, I think yours was a rare off day

I don't recommend appleyard flowers, sent them to two friends who had birthdays a day apart, both lots turned up dead, I complained a nd new flowers were sent, neither arrived. Terrible service

Have used m&s for work and never had an isdue, their flowers in store always last

stressedoutpa · 17/04/2019 20:33

The flowers are listed on the Next website.

I've just shown my sister-in-law who is a florist. She has priced those flowers up at £22 plus delivery:-

1 x pink asiatic lily @ £1.39
3 x white tulips @ 59p
3 x peach roses @ £1.80
2 x cream santini @ £1.25
3 x peach bi-colour germini @ 95p
1 x pink pussy willow @ £1.25
2 x pitto @ 90p
Vase @ £5

She said it is a bit of a pathetic choice and not enough greenery to support the flowers. The photo on the Next website is front facing so if you place it in the centre of the table it won't look as full as the photo on the website.

She gets very annoyed at the supermarket prices which are artificially low (buy in bulk, very poor quality) and the online florists (who are mass production crap/poorly put together by untrained factory workers).

Whatjusthappenedthere · 17/04/2019 21:05

I’ve done the flower head count and I’ve compared the photos. Correct amount of flowers in each bunch. But I simply cannot replicate the photo even kerpingvthrm all front facing . I’ve ordered Next flowers before and they have literally needed no fiddling around to replicate the image.
I’m not a flower expert but I picked up a few tips from a local church team and a short course I did for a few months whist on mat leave.

I think whoever had a bad bunch from Bloom and Wikd was really unlucky. I’ve sent and been sent them and never a bad bunch yet.

Backseatonthebus · 17/04/2019 21:20

I received a bouquet from Next which was awful, several of the flowers died wihin a day. They were very keen to put things right when I emailed and sent a beautiful replacement bouquet. Hopefully they will do the same for you

UtterlyDesperate · 17/04/2019 21:27

I found Bloom and Wild dreadful - I gave my mother a year of deliveries the Christmas before last. Out of 12, there were issues with around half of the bunches. She didn't say anything the first couple of times, then rang me, very embarrassed, as she thought I would be able to cancel for a refund. After that, I called up every time there was an issue. Never again - it's not reasonable to receive broken flowers, flowers that are already on their way out or missing flowers over half of the time. And who has time to ring up, leave messages and wait for call backs every time there's a completely avoidable issue?

I use Serenata, B and M, Guernsey Flowers and Interflora now, plus the odd Arena order. I send a couple every month, for various reasons - haven't had a single issue with any of these over the last 18 months.

Snog · 17/04/2019 21:30

Has anyone tried Freddie's Flowers?

AnnaMagnani · 17/04/2019 21:39

As for previous posters, I always google a local florist and get them to deliver for wherever I want flowers.

Even picking random names off the internet, I've always had better than that.

Only thing that is always reliable is Scilly Flowers but they are seasonal.

FredaFox · 17/04/2019 22:43

I tried freddies at Christmas, poor quality, flowers were damaged

Flockingflamingo · 17/04/2019 22:48

Try using tape to create a grid on the top of the vase. You then thread yhe flowers through, you cant see it but it gives it more oomph.

TurquoiseDress · 17/04/2019 23:13

I dont know much about flowers or arranging of them etc but there seems to be an awful lot of green/foliage/leaf as opposed to actual flowers!

stressedoutpa · 17/04/2019 23:34

^ Confused

There's only two stems of foliage which would cost about £1.80.

Flowers don't grow in isolation. You need some greenery!

CCC1 · 17/04/2019 23:39

Awful. I’ve not been well and received two different Bloom and Wild bouquets over the last few weeks from kind people. I’ve not been up to much flower arranging and have been always been a talentless “bag of chips” flower arranger anyway. Both bouquets have looked absolutely beautiful. I think one may be over three weeks old now and still going strong with a bit of dead heading.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/04/2019 23:41

Thats dreadful

I was going to say that the bouquets are usually lovely

But those are awful
