To dry clothes this way? 🤔

I only have a small yard, but when the weather is nice I prefer to dry our clothes etc outside on the line. Unfortunately, one wash of bedding and the line is nearly full, so I have an airer out there and I hang clothes on hangers and put them on the line (space them out and peg the hook to keep in place) so I can get more out. Apparently that’s weird but I’m just maximising my drying options 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 is it really so wrong?!

Sounds a very good system to me, and environmentally friendly

DeepDarkWoods · 15/04/2019 15:24

Seems like a good idea to me

Lwmommy · 15/04/2019 15:24

I do this, less ironing!

All DHs work shirts are put on hangers so they dry straight.

GarthFunkel · 15/04/2019 15:24

I always dry stuff on hangers. It's going to go on a hanger later, why not put it on there straight out of the washing machine

OutInTheCountry · 15/04/2019 15:25

YADNBU - who said it's weird?

PawPawNoodle · 15/04/2019 15:26

Who thinks that's weird? We don't have a line so the clothes go out on the airer including hanger stuff (after a vigorous shake first to get most of the creases out)

WingBingo · 15/04/2019 15:27

Actually it would look different from the usual washing line but it’s a great idea.

PinkiOcelot · 15/04/2019 15:27

Weird in what way? I don’t see the problem.

crosser62 · 15/04/2019 15:30

I fail to see why any one would give even one fuck how you dry your clothes.
I also fail to see why you would give even one fuck about what anyone thinks about how you would dry your clothes.

Have some Cake and a Brew and bask in your zero fucks revelation.

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/04/2019 15:30

I dry as much as possible on hangers, a bit of a breeze and its crease free. I do fancy some of those Lakeland hanger holders though so they stay in place.

WatershedMoment · 15/04/2019 15:30

Good idea!

WatershedMoment · 15/04/2019 15:31

Although...do they not blow off?

RavenLG · 15/04/2019 15:32

I've never thought of doing it but honestly it sounds more efficient than the 'normal' way.

Holidayshopping · 15/04/2019 15:33

Who told you it’s weird? Presumably someone with a bigger washing line or a tumble drier?! Ignore them!

OopsOhNoZHM · 15/04/2019 15:36

Few of my friends think I’m odd for doing it 🤷🏼‍♀️
Nah, don’t get blown off if the hook is pegged to the line, usually don’t have to do that though unless it’s really windy

My trench coat is outside like this right now. Lovely and crease free and cheaper than dry cleaning.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 15/04/2019 15:38

We're lucky in that we have a long garden with 2 long washing lines but if I've done bedding, towels and clothes we are still stuck for space. I do exactly what you do and put the clothes on hangers, pegged to the line and pegged to the hanger if very windy. Don't see how it's weird, it's a brilliant space saver

Holidayshopping · 15/04/2019 15:43

Nah, don’t get blown off if the hook is pegged to the line

I don’t actually understand what hook you are pegging to the line? Are you attaching the airer to the line or the hangers?

NKFell · 15/04/2019 15:57

I thought the OP is pegging clothes to the airer and the PP is pegging the hanger to the line?

Anyway, YADNBU!

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 15/04/2019 15:59

I dry all our clothes on hangers, because I don't have any outside space at all, just line them up across the top of doors or on door handles! Gives the house something of a strange flea market effect, but doesn't take up any space Grin

longearedbat · 15/04/2019 16:03

Just as long as your line doesn't snap because you are loading it up with more weight, namely lots of clothes plus hangers!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 15/04/2019 16:03

I do similar and use these clips that stop the hangers slipping

ChuckyHereToPlay · 15/04/2019 16:03

No I do this too

PregnantSea · 15/04/2019 16:04

Garthfunkel that is an excellent idea. Why have I never thought of this?

NunoGoncalves · 15/04/2019 16:08

Why would that be weird? Seems perfectly unextraordinary to me.
