Easter Roast

Over the past couple of years I have been cooking Roast lamb for the Easter Sunday which everyone seems to enjoy and was wondering if it is true that New Zealand lamb is all halal?

Its just that my guests would object to this way of killing and I know they have stopped going into certain restaurants i.e. Nando's.
I also feel not inclined to eat Halal meat and find it seems quite hidden now in many shops and restaurants and many people don't realise they are eating it.

Well I do. Just as I taste a difference between farmed and wild salmon.

Some people taste dirt when they eat beets. I don’t. Some people taste soap when they eat cilantro. Some people can’t eat peppers, as they taste too bitter. I don’t in those cases. But I’m not presumptuous enough to assume those individuals are imagining something just because their tastebuds differ from mine. So yes, you were smugly superior in your response.

Yes, when I eat halal meat, I can taste the prayers.

It’s not the prayers. As I posted that doesn’t bother me in the least. It does taste different to me, at least, chicken does. Markedly.

Brilliant! Grin Ah, Halo your examples are irrelevant because that's about an actual flavor. Saying a prayer over meat and the way it is killed has no affect on the flavor. I'm not being superior, i'm stating facts. But there is no point going around in circles arguing so you keep your opinion, and i'll keep mine. We can agree to disagree. even though my opinion is based on facts

Halo84 · 23/04/2019 11:31

Nope. I don’t live in the UK, and the bloodletting is also different. I believe that’s what makes the taste different.

But thanks again for the smug superiority.

GreytExpectations · 23/04/2019 16:11

OP, i do think its ridiculous for people to refuse halal based on moral grounds. Its not as black and white as that and it makes people look lretty ignorant. Persinally id struggle to invite those guests over

Sheogorath · 23/04/2019 19:13

If they are slaughtered in the same way and the only difference is the prayer, how can it possibly taste different?

Halo84 · 23/04/2019 20:36

Where I live they are not slaughtered the same way, which is why halal meat must be labeled.
