Yes , I have experience with CBD oil and have many friends who have used it with great effect. Their illnesses range from epilepsy, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and it has helped two friends with poor appetite and sleep issues who had cancer. It is also good for controlling nausea.
Our oldest son had major surgery last year, and was horrendously allergic to the anaesthetic, and had some bad reactions to a lot of analgesics . He had no appetite and couldn't sleep due to pain, nor could he stop puking - for over 48 hours. The head of the ICU cardiac department at a major hospital told me to find some CBD oil, gave me the name of a supplier and stated the hospital used it in the cancer ward ( secretly) on a regular basis. We got it, used it isn the hospital , his appetite returned, he was calmer and could sleep. It worked wonders for him. Doctor expressed the frustration he and many of his peers felt against the current difficulties here ( Australia) re prescribing something that was effective in a number of circumstances.
Results depends greatly on who the distiller is, their level of experience in making the oil, and the strength of the product. If it is sufficiently refined it shouldn't taste bad at all.
We've found some of the best oils come out of Spain, but are pricey - and sold in doses of graduating strength. We still use it for my son, when he has pain recurrences and looses his appetite.
I have never heard of capsules as a means of delivery. Normal is more a concentrate with a dropper. I'd also suspect government authorised doses sold in pharmacies are far less effective than those that those that come from people with years in the marijuana industry. ( but I'm skeptical like that )
