To have a bloody good moan about the fact I can find fuck all nice in the shops?

Going clubbing for the first time in about a million years on Saturday and I went today up the town to find a "party dress". I don't ask for much. All I want is something that:

  1. Isn't a crop top or shows flesh other than arms legs and a maybe bit of cleavage
  2. Is a bit fancy/sparkly, what I would call a clubbing dress
  3. Wont be so short it will show other punters what I had for breakfast.
  4. Is suitable for my age (mod/late 30's)

Can I find anything resembling the above? Can I fuck! It's all either crop top/wedgie knicker combos, florally flappy baggy monstrosities or what I can only describe as overpriced dressing gowns.

Why is it so hard to find a nice dress? I went into 7 shops and not a sausage! Is it just me? Am I too old now?

You're out of season for sparkly dresses - they're in the shops winter time. The summer jumpsuits should be out - there might be something in a darker colour, maybe black with floral, that would be suitable for club with some heels?

Yanbu! Sick of everything either being cropped or some silly back design that means it cant be worn with a bra. I second boohoo, I've got a few midi dresses from there that always get compliments and you can choose next day delivery

I went out last week looking for an LBD.
Everything was garish prints
Wrap dresses
Button through
Over sized
Too short like bum skimming

Am resorting to ASOS!

Chose next day delivery and in 3 sizes at least for an emergency dress. The size which you think you are and one up and down each way :)

That's the biggest bug bear with internet shopping - loving it when it arrives but it's too big or small. Read any reviews carefully as well.

OP I feel your pain! I wanted a maxi dress...for my holidays and according to all the fashion magazines there is a perfect maxi dress for every shape and size...only there wasnt for me! If I tried on 40 dresses no kidding and I looked like a house end....I abandoned all hope then! I decided to wear normal and kill em with my dazzling personality instead! Have a brill night out!

Right I have found a lovely dress from boohoo (though my tits don't look like that and I certainly won't be teaming them with fuckin fishnet socks) - but like a massive tit I selected "Next Day Delivery if ordered before 6pm" instead of 11pm (I ordered it at 7pm). What are the chances it'll come tomorrow? It's been dispatched apparently!

If i were you I'd order a bunch of dresses on boohoo to find one you like. The one you've posted looks like it's very unforgiving tbh

She is @Lemoneeza - I'm pleased I'm not the only one baffled by this choice!

@Munchkingoat I do wonder if I have a deluded opinion of how my body looks - I certainly don't have circular boobs, and I see what you mean about the dress 😬 May order a few more to be on the safe side

I always use Boo Hoo or Pink Boutique for going out stuff now. The high street has nothing
