Just that really. I'm a bit non-plussed about it all Confused

Oh my goodness, I can't believe some of the replies! 😂 There's no way I'd be running round to pick up cat poo unless he could provide me with photographic evidence or timed/dated CCTV footage that each poo was my cats. Ahahaha this made me laugh so much! As if your cat is the ONLY cat who ever goes in his garden! As if anyone really has control of their cats! As if an outdoor animal being outdoors and doing animal-like business is such a travesty! And if he hates cats so much maybe he should just buy one of those little alarm things that annoys cats so they stay out of his garden? Or is it only YOUR cat he has a problem with? 😂😂😂 I don't know why I found this so funny... People are so unreasonable and ridiculous you can only laugh!

KissingInTheRain · 06/04/2019 11:56

Presumably all the cat lovers here have no problem with cats being attacked by dogs or run over by cars and left in the road. Because being “roaming” creatures they can’t be controlled and people must just expect to encounter them (and their deposits) just as they would wild, undomesticated animals.

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 06/04/2019 11:57

Yes people are ridiculous. Why can't you understand that something that you are maintaining is destroying our environment and ruining our food?

The analogy with dogs is ridiculous. Dog poo can be controlled. It isn't always, that's true, but it has not been as bad in the past and there can be measures taken to control it. Those who don't choose to abide by those rules can be prosecuted by the council in theory. They often aren't because they are almost as entitled, selfish and aggressive in their defence of their right to be entitled and selfish as the cat owners on this thread and in real life.

People have cats because they can't be arsed to clean up after them, so you can add damned lazy too. Keep your animals to yourself. If you can't, don't have them.

Regensburg · 06/04/2019 11:58

If cats are wild animals, okay, they can shit everywhere, like foxes.
If they are domestic animals, i.e. pets owned by humans, they should only be shitting in their own gardens.
Why do some cat owners think they can have it both ways? A wild animal pet that can shit with impunity wherever it wants? How can anyone think this is okay?
Why are those of us affected by the anti-social behaviour of some cat owners being told we are being ridiculous??
Who should I have to do a cat shit check every time DD, DH and / or I want to go out in our own garden? Can you really not see that we are not the ones being ridiculous??

Regensburg · 06/04/2019 12:02

If it's a domestic animal, train it to shit where it lives.

If it's a wild animal, then it shouldn't be a pet.

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 06/04/2019 12:09

Actually I’ll take back some of my previous about the analogy with dog muck being ridiculous.
It at least shows that some car owners do accept that animal poo everywhere is deeply unpleasant and unsanitary.

So how are you justifying adding your animals’ muck to our gardens and streets again? Is it just because it’s yours, belonging to the great and wonderful YOU?

Not good enough is it?

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 06/04/2019 12:10

Some cat owners, not cars (another topic Grin

GoldenPineapples · 06/04/2019 12:37

My cats poo in my garden because I see them doing it. It's fine.

I suppose the reason why people get sniggers and thoughts that they sound ridiculous is because you make it sound like someone can "train" a cat to only go in their own garden 🤣

Some cats are indoor cats, some cats aren't. Some cats only really ever go as far as their own garden and other cats wander off further afield.

Like dogs, they are all different. Some are assholes and some are homely "lap" cats.

You can make all the efforts but some cats just won't be trained in the way you want it to so I guess the only answer would be to put it to sleep?

FinnegansWhiskers · 06/04/2019 13:51

People who get a cat, throw it out of the house to wander and piss the neighbours off have no business making FB posts " My cat has been missing for 3 days. Check your garages and sheds. The children miss him so much".

The cats are mostly either squashed by cars, picked up for bait or has found a new owner who allows it into the house and cares for it. Very rarely a lost cat comes home. It's a dangerous world out there. I guess cat owners, who allow their cats to roam, don't really care about what happens to their "much loved pet".

Anyone thinking about getting a cat needs to consider how they can keep the cat safe and take steps to do so before they get the cat. Most get a cat and couldn't care less about the cat or the neighbours! "The kids want a pet see, and I can't really be arsed to look after a dog. I know I'll get a cat. I won't need to bother picking it's shit up. I'll leave that to the neighbours"!!! 🤬

LittleChristmasMouse · 06/04/2019 14:03

Or how about cat proof your garden to keep them in your garden? No training, no euthanasia.

If you want a pet then surely it's up to you to have the expense, inconvenience and mess? Why is up to me to facilitate your pet ownership?

The next time the neighbour's cat comes into my house I think I'll take it to a cat rescue centre.

This is just factually untrue - most lost cats do come home. However, I'm a bit nervous about arguing with you because you and most of the thread sound like absolute lunatics. If I met you in real life I'd back away slowly.

You must have a very small circle of friends. In fact you must live like a hermit.

Most missing cats are found squashed or not found at all. ... FACT!

The feelings mutual.... Off you toddle.

Alsohuman · 06/04/2019 15:06

My cats have always come and gone as they please through the cat flap. They tend to die of old age.

FinnegansWhiskers · 06/04/2019 16:04

That's nice @Alsohuman. I guess you follow them with a bag to collect and dispose of their shit?

madcatladyforever · 06/04/2019 16:12

My neighbour has a dog, that keeps my cat out of his garden. Mind you she's too old to jump the fence anyway.
Or they could get some seagulls. No pet dares to go out at all during gull season, which is most of the summer.

Alsohuman · 06/04/2019 16:13

No, Finnegans, I don’t because we live in the country - where people expect shit.

I don't understand how people can defend a domestic animal pooing in someone else's garden and not picking it up, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

I have a dog and I clean up after her every single time. It's only right, innit.

FinnegansWhiskers · 06/04/2019 16:27

You fucking serious? I live in the country.... No other houses around for miles. I still manage to pick my dogs shit up. My dog does his toileting at 6.30am every morning, when I let him into the garden. I pick it up and bin it. It's no big deal! Farmers appreciate the fact that I'm not poisoning their livestock.

My DD lives in a terrace and she does a daily battle with cat shit from cats whose owners are happy that the pet - they chose to have - do their stinking business in anyone's garden but their own.

DD has 2 children under 5 who cannot play in their own garden because her next door neighbours have 7 cats who are allowed to roam and crap in her garden.

Anyone who wants a pet should be totally responsible for their pet. Why should their neighbours deal with the problems that the pet incurs? Why should livestock die because you can't be arsed to pick your cats shit up?

You are a typical entitled cat owner...

I have a great life thank you Finnegans. From your invective you obviously don't Grin
I'll say a prayer for you (not really).

3teens2cats · 06/04/2019 16:43

I sympathise. Our neighbours blamed our cats for pooing in their garden. I didn't think it was because they tend to come back to use the litter tray having been indoors for the first year of their life. Ofcourse I didn't argue this and apologised. Couple of months later we went on holiday and cats went to stay with my mum for a couple of weeks. The poo continued while they were away and neighbours accepted the culprit was a different cat!

DrWhy · 06/04/2019 21:08

I was out in the garden this morning, pottering in the greenhouse when DS (2.5) who was digging in the edge of the fruit bed shouted ‘mummy there’s cat poo’ (no idea how he recognised it as cat poo) and sure enough it was. I went over the bed with a trowel and picked up a plant pot full of cat poo, some of which was teaming with little white wiggling worms. I was tempted to photograph it for those of you who never see their own cats poo because their darlings are our ‘roaming’ and shitting on other people’s property.
Toddler was praised for telling me and given a through hand wash just in case. The fruit bed will be netted pronto but we will need some other way to keep the cat off the veg beds once we take the polythene off and plant it up. It’s just utterly revolting.
Maybe once Brexit has stopped dominating the news (if it ever does) one of us should start a petition that cats should be subject to the same rules around ownership and control as dogs...

GoldenPineapples · 06/04/2019 22:24

That is factually untrue that most cats don't come home. My cat was lost for over a week last year and she came home. She was clearly locked in somewhere and is so shy and timid, I doubt anyone would hear her meow.
