Wibu to wear crop tops whilst pregnant?

Opinions on crop tops in themselves are massively divided anyway but some people seem to be very anti pregnant stomachs on show.

I usually wear lots of crop tops in summer, considering the end of this summer I'm going to be very pregnant, I figure I'll be a lot more comfortable in the least amount of clothing possible.

What do you really think of pregnant midriff on show?

It's a look, isn't it?

I've just had to pick my jaw up off the floor at some of these responses, misogyny is alive and well I see.

I used go swimming every so often in my pre pregnancy bikini, why would I waste at least £20 on swimwear that's only useful for a few wears? I was very lucky in that I didn't get any stretchmarks and my belly button went flat (my boobs and bum were a different story!) I felt lovely to be honest. The looks I got from a select few though, which I never got pre pregnancy, but those people were nothing to me, I couldn't give a shit what they thought, I was comfortable and happy.
How strange that people go squimish over a belly just because it's got a baby in it.

I was the same. I kept fit throughout all my pregnancies but especially my first one I had a lovely bump

I once heard a Spanish person say that British people have no idea how to dress for heat and she was right! You don’t strip off and go bare bellied or bare anything, you get clothing in a fabric that is suitable for the heat.

This. I’m not Spanish but live in a country that can get hot as fuck at times. Have also lived in the UK for several years before having kids. Seriously the thought that summer heat there is so bad that you have to get about in a crop top because you are pregnant is just odd. One of mine was born in summer in a month where it didn’t go under 40degC. I’ll admit I pranced around my house in bra and undies at the time but it was not hard to dress in suitable clothing when outside if the house.

Also, if it’s SO HOT that you would need to get about in a crop top, you would need to spend half your time faffing about sticking sunscreen on your exposed midriff and good luck reaching around to everywhere required when pregnant. Much more sensible to get suitable fabrics and styles.

Yabu, I wouldn't. When you progress in your pregnancy you will end up temporarily looking like a gorilla with dark hair on your belly. Scared the sh$t out of me I thought I was turning in to a bloke

PregnantSea · 05/04/2019 07:04

Personally I find it a bit bleurgh but that's my issue, not yours. I don't think it's obscene so long as your bits are covered!

Where whatever you like OP. If a crop top keeps you cool when you're heavily pregnant then just go for it. God knows you're uncomfortable enough already while pregnant without feeling like you have to adhere to a strict dress code.

I also will mention how easily pregnant women burn! I remember sitting outside on a hot day in a vest for an hour, never again my shoulders got badly burnt and looked like pork crackling.

PregnantSea · 05/04/2019 07:05

*wear, not where! Damned baby brain...

Never had hair or stretch marks
