I don't think it's a huge amount tbh. I pay about that for highlights and cut

Nquartz · 04/04/2019 08:52

I've found from talking to a range of people that hair cut costs vary wildly.

I pay £28 for roots touch up & wet cut at home, women at work pays £150 for similar in posh city centre salon.

So yes I think it's v expensive but I'm also not bothered about my hair enough to spend a great deal!

Purpleknickers · 04/04/2019 08:52

Would be £85 at my salon , so no £60 is pretty good. I now have the salon stylist at her home and its £55

Ridingthegravytrain · 04/04/2019 08:52

£35 for colour and £25 for cut (roughly) sounds fair enough for me in a salon.

Tink88 · 04/04/2019 08:53

Very reasonable.

Also check the prices before you go somewhere in future there’s always cheaper and more expensive places.

Blessingsdragon1 · 04/04/2019 08:54

If you don't value the skill and time of the stylist and understand buissness expenses then yes it's expensive.

Tomtontom · 04/04/2019 08:55

Many people pay that just for a cut.

hobblingawayslowly · 04/04/2019 08:55

Er I pay £75 just for a cut.

PointlessUsername · 04/04/2019 08:56

I pay £90 for the same and the salon i go to is considered cheap around here.

Tomtontom · 04/04/2019 08:57

Although I can't say I've ever been to a salon without knowing the price beforehand. Saves for any awkward situations later.

LostInShoebiz · 04/04/2019 08:59

Bargain.

You do know you don’t pay less if they cut less off?

SileneOliveira · 04/04/2019 09:03

Sounds cheap - especially for a salon. I get my hair done by a self-employed hairdresser who comes to the house, she charges £45 for a cut and colour which is a bargain. A bit more for that in a salon is a bargain too.

ChipSandwich · 04/04/2019 09:05

My local salon has just been taken over by a 'big name' salon. What used to cost me £45 (colour, cut and rough dry) has now been quoted £80. No chance. Have found another local salon whose standard charge for my requirements is £48. I'd never go to a town centre salon. Ridiculous prices.

Fluffyears · 04/04/2019 09:07

I’m£65 for a cut and colour and I think it’s reasonable as the posh wanky ripoff place I used to go we’re about £100 then they tried to sell you a shit ton of products and a conditioning treatment etc.

Jeezoh · 04/04/2019 09:08

I pay £70 for similar and it’s the cheap end of normal where I am. Highlights and cut takes 2 hours for me by the time you factor in everything, including a hair wash. So if you work out the staff’s hourly rate, cost of shampoo, conditioner, hair dye plus the money they spend on rent, water, heating, electricity etc, there’s probably not much left for profit.

Rememberallball · 04/04/2019 09:09

I pay less than that for full head colour, cut and blow dry (oh and he does my husband’s cut as well). I would not be going back to that salon unless it was the only salon in the area. Also, I won’t go in a salon where every stylist earns a different amount as, if my usual stylist isn’t available and I’m offered another one then I want to know I’m paying the same as I’d bloat my usual person - unless it’s a trainee under supervision.

Rememberallball · 04/04/2019 09:10

*same as I’d pay my usual person - not bloat (no idea where my autopredict got that from!!)

Picklypickles · 04/04/2019 09:11

I've just paid £46 for just a cut and blowdry (although that was with the Executive Stylist so more than usual)! Last time I got a cut and colour it was around £80ish.

badtime · 04/04/2019 09:11

I pay that for a cut.

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/04/2019 09:13

£60 for cut and colour?? I pay way more than that. I think you are getting a really good deal. Where do you go, lol - I will start going there!

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand · 04/04/2019 09:15

That’s reasonable. And why didn’t you check the price first?

Rezie · 04/04/2019 09:15

Hairdressers is very expensive. £60 for a cut and colour touch up is very reasonable for a hairdresser price.

zoellafortitude · 04/04/2019 09:15

Dark brown is one of the easier colours to do yourself at home. I went to the hairdresser just the once to get mine dyed brown after years of doing it myself, in case I was missing something special. Couldn't see any difference between the home dye and their dye and I was £50 the poorer for it.

If you struggle to do your own hair, why not get a friend to help you?

Babuchak · 04/04/2019 09:15

What do you mean by root done?
A t-section, highlights, head dye...?

Depending on the salon and the advertised price, but no, it doesn't sound expensive.

It cost the same to have a trim or a full hair cut usually, which makes sense.

Burlea · 04/04/2019 09:16

Colour and cut has just increased to £52 at my hairdressers
