I went to get my roots done ..just dark brown as my normal hair colour just to cover my greys.
She trimmed about 1/2 inch off too.
Got to the till £60!!
I think this is crazy...
Is this expensive?

Would you not use a semi permanent hair dye at home? Then go every six months for a trim? Blondes have to use the salon because the home dyes are never as good. But the nice n easy brown tones, home dye are great and cover greys.

I do it myself buy a Olia Dark Brown dye....it's fab my hair has never been in such good condition it's shiny and alot thicker than when I used to have blonde highlights, I bought a pair of hairdressing scissors of ebay for £3 And my hubby cuts it for me.......I do have a shoulder length job with a fringe. In fact I bumped into someone the other day who hadn't seen me since I dyed my hair dark from blonde and said how good my hair was. Olia hair dye is great no bad products in it I would recommend x

I'm just useless at getting the back done.
Also worried incase I get dye on the blonde balayage bit.
I just can't afford £60 every few weeks

There are certain types of colouring that cost a fortune. You may need to revise your look to accommodate your budget or at least look around at student nights where they want models to do colouring on - that sort of thing.

Used to have light blonde highlights every eight weeks. Moneys getting tight, so last month I asked them to dye it close to my natual colour. There are still no roots and I look nice! They said I'd probably need one more done in a few months as this one may fade. Should take two years for it all to grow out. Wish I had never started highlighting my hair...its been a right money trap!!

Is there a college near you? I go to the local college and get one of the third year students to do it. £20 for t-bar highlights and a trim. Always done perfectly as they’re so close to qualifying and very keen!

Agree with others about going to a local college. They have a teacher watching them step by step and for something like root touch up could cost you about £10. If your unsure about having your balayage and cut by them just go to your salon every 12 weeks for them and the college for the root touch up?
