MNHQ here: some news

Hello

We wanted to let you know that we are today launching a new tool to facilitate conflict resolution on the Talk forums.

Using linguistic analysis of the many thousands of discussions on AIBU?, we've produced a list of fifty ‘family flashpoints’ - issues that commonly cause distress and conflict for MNers and their families. The top five flashpoints identified are:

rows over money, particularly how disposable income is spent within couples;
mismatches in sexual libido;
fathers ‘offering to babysit’ for their children;
whose turn it is to empty the bin; and
repeated leaving of towels on the bathroom floor.

Textbots will employ machine learning from millions of Mumsnet responses over the years to inform users whether they are or are not being unreasonable. An animated wagging finger will appear on screen with the text ‘It looks as though you’re about to have a massive row. Would you like some help with that?’ before offering a chatbot mediation service.

Just wanted to let you know - as ever, please do let us know what you think

Thanks
MNHQ

Can we please add in a special warning for anyone who posts a parking thread without a diagram? Wink

I think I just mentioned picky eaters and nothing happened, so I'm not sure that it's working.

Graphista · 01/04/2019 11:53

No no no

The top priority for mnhq should have been preventing posts where the poster clearly hasn't rtft!

You know like you get "are you sure you want to delete?" Messages?

There should be a wagging finger and a

"You didn't even bloody read the op's posts did you?!" Message Grin

Calls for a red flag emoticon I am fully supporting should be accompanied by a LTB klaxon similar to the last legs "bullshit button"

RowanMumsnet · 01/04/2019 12:11

Can we just say, the user claiming to have that government department as a client made us laugh Grin

While you're here... a new AIBU? podcast episode is released today featuring James Acaster - give us a listen and let us know what you think?

Meanwhile we'll get to work on the 'wagging finger' emoji

If only computational linguistics could produce something that useful!
