AIBU?

MNHQ here: some news

Hello

We wanted to let you know that we are today launching a new tool to facilitate conflict resolution on the Talk forums.

Using linguistic analysis of the many thousands of discussions on AIBU?, we've produced a list of fifty ‘family flashpoints’ - issues that commonly cause distress and conflict for MNers and their families. The top five flashpoints identified are:

rows over money, particularly how disposable income is spent within couples;
mismatches in sexual libido;
fathers ‘offering to babysit’ for their children;
whose turn it is to empty the bin; and
repeated leaving of towels on the bathroom floor.

Textbots will employ machine learning from millions of Mumsnet responses over the years to inform users whether they are or are not being unreasonable. An animated wagging finger will appear on screen with the text ‘It looks as though you’re about to have a massive row. Would you like some help with that?’ before offering a chatbot mediation service.

Just wanted to let you know - as ever, please do let us know what you think

Thanks
MNHQ

Given it's potential success rate I expect this to also be offered as an on demand service not only via MN but also devices such as Alexa. Like summoning an argument genie without the need for a lamp.

I guess Angela Hernandez didn't want to put her name to this one? Grin

Government Office of Technology, Change and Aimless Initiatives

Do not give the government ideas. They probably will think this is a good one!

I thought we should also add a facility, which tells us which of you at mnhq identify as male or female. All mnhq posts are highlighted in blue. I find that extremely gender exclusive especially as Rowan is a name for both women and men. I’m terribly confused.

And perhaps anyone, who identify as a canary could have theirs in yellow??

Did you mean to be so rude @MNHQ?

😀

We need a finger wagging emoji!

Something similar in one of the Douglas Adams books (the one with the automatic monk?) whereby you work out what answer you want and it tells you 100% logic of how to get there. Now that would be useful for the government!

To be fair, I have come on here looking for the Mumsnet April Fool - and found it straight off. The massive wagging finger did make me laugh!

I wonder whether Theresa May allows ministers to use the toilet at 10 Downing Street.
