6 million and still rising . . . Time to revoke?

O please lets do that. Revoke, rethink and re- refer.

It's 6 million signatures not 6 million eligible voters. I have friends boasting how they have used multiple email addresses to sign this. As a remainer it makes me cringe to hear so many politicians, People's Vote leaders etc cite this poll as evidence that the 'will of the people' is now to revoke. They are not fooling anyone other than those desperate to believe it and are as dishonest as those saying no deal will be great. A lack of honesty and proper scrutiny is how we got into this bloody mess in the first place.

Sybelline · 31/03/2019 16:16

Funny that the news that Vote Leave dropped its appeal against the Electoral Commission slipped out on the 29th March. That was a good and loud day to bury this kind of news.

ScrollLock · 31/03/2019 16:17

Of course you could use your cat's name when signing the petition if you were so inclined. But each email address can only be used once. You may attempt to use it more than once but you will receive an email telling you that subsequent signings will not be counted.

So you just st up another email address for the cat. It barely takes a minute. You could sign on behalf of all the birds in your garden too, using your own post code.

It's not surprising the petition isn't having the impact many think it should have. It's worthless.

Hazlenutpie · 31/03/2019 16:18

Vote Leave are guilty of electoral fraud. You call that 'democracy'

Really? Hmm

Sybelline · 31/03/2019 16:18

Thanks for the advice but you're assuming people aren't already doing things aside from 'hurling' posts on MN.

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 16:18

I wouldn’t endorse a recommendation to “bang on your MPs doors” - but I think a lot of people are writing to their MPs etc. I know I am. Not had the courtesy of a response, naturally

mothertruck3r · 31/03/2019 16:19

Lol. I tested the petition and signed using a 10 minute disposable email address so anybody can vote and can vote multiple times!

Sybelline · 31/03/2019 16:20

It's not surprising the petition isn't having the impact many think it should have. It's worthless.

Then don't let it occupy so much headspace.

TSSDNCOP · 31/03/2019 16:20

Ah yes. Doing “other things”

Doesn’t really have the feel of a revolution does it?

Sybelline · 31/03/2019 16:20

Lol. I tested the petition and signed using a 10 minute disposable email address so anybody can vote and can vote multiple times!

Brain of Britain right here.

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 16:22

So you are advocating violence to overturn the referendum result?
Not on board with that, I’m afraid.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/03/2019 16:22

It’ll hit 17 million. Of course it will. There may be a number of reasons to revoke, but this sham of a petition shouldn’t be it.

Sybelline · 31/03/2019 16:22

I don't know how many letters I've written to how many politicians. I'm doing my bit and I'm doing what I'm comfortable with. So sorry I'm not out there banging on doors (fow what end exactly?) and staging one woman protests.

Goldmandra · 31/03/2019 16:24

So six million people feel strongly enough to sign a petition asking the gov't to revoke article 50.

How many in total have signed the various petitions with Brexit means Brexit messages?

Alsohuman · 31/03/2019 16:24

It’s leavers who want a revolution. The rest of us want the status quo. At least we know what we want and what we’d be getting.

TSSDNCOP · 31/03/2019 16:24

Why not Donald? Do you think it might hurt their feelings. You people are furiously posting on an inconsequential website about the voice of the people. Was there ever a lamer protest?

Miljah · 31/03/2019 16:28

Fact is, we either won't be leaving the EU at all, or if we do, in the softest possible way.

JRM has turned, The Sun is turning.

You can 'Yeh, but/no, but' all you like. We have a Remain government because they all know how stupid pulling out of the EU would be, how catastrophic for many of their harder-of-thinking constituents.

If you are a rabid No Dealer, your best bet is to understand that battle has been lost, limp off and lick your wounds, and prepare a better, more plausible campaign next time; one that convinces a Supermajority of a motivated, educated electorate.

Oh, and see if you can manage to keep it legal this time, eh? 😉

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 16:28

No of course, I quite see how breaking the law and committing acts of violence would make my position much more credible.
Are you pissed?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/03/2019 16:30

At the moment we are Brexiting, Goldmandra, no need to do anything. Should that change I imagine there will be a hell of a lot of signing stuff,.

TSSDNCOP · 31/03/2019 16:31

What’s breaking the law about banging on a door? You can see I didn’t say burn the building down can’t you, silly billy? But you crack on with your letter writing.

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 16:33

At the moment I’m closer to thinking Brexit won’t happen than at any time since 2016.
May won’t drive off the no deal cliff. Those who might say they want to make her have already shown they are pissy cowards with no stomach for the real job. It’ll be decent until EU says no more, then revoke.
Possibly.

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 16:34

Not pissed, just daft, which is, sadly for you, less easily cured.

TSSDNCOP · 31/03/2019 16:37

Oh Donald really. You’ll be telling your mum on me next.

twofingerstoEverything · 31/03/2019 16:42

Really?

Yes, Hazelnut. Really. You think it's fine that Vote Leave broke the law to swing the vote?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 31/03/2019 16:46

Forcing us to stay in the EU is just exposing how little democracy we have left in this country. As the EU always does it makes countries vote again and again until they do what they are told.
