Three black men with their backs against a wall and officers stood in front of them, then a white woman with almost the opposite?

Or AIBU?

It’s a good way to highlight inequality and prejudice. I have had stop and search three times, each time the non-BAME person with me was never searched.

Now they need one for airports showing those of us who are ‘randomly’ selected nearly everytime.

Lweji thanks for that info.

Probably why the 'it was staged' posters have shut their mouths up now.

Yup, that's terrible.

OoohAyyye · 31/03/2019 20:32

I saw it as a PC asking the woman for details, she said it was a black male and then you see three black males lined up.

Doesn't look good though.

@SimonJT almost every time I travel I've been searched. Started when I was a teenager. Now I'm white, so I don't think race comes into that. The only other thing I can think of is that I have big boobs! Wink

In all seriousness though, in London two thirds of knife crime is committed by bames fullfact.org/crime/are-majority-youth-knife-offenders-minority-ethnic/
So the stop and searches should be proportional to that. However my ex is a copper, and in his borough there are very few white people, and he explained that they generally don't hang around in groups as much, so they are less likely to get searched.

I think this explains the race issue quite well: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/11/11/policefighting-knife-violence-should-exempt-race-discrimination/
And seeing as it's from the former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission should be taken seriously.

Completely missing the point of the thread, but I used to escort my grandparents on flights between their home and mine frequently, over several years. Grandad was searched every single time we travelled, and granny frequently was. They were absolutely stereotypical white elderly middle class - tweed, the lot. They were always sidelined and asked to remove their shoes etc. It was such a pain in the behind.
