To rely solely on condoms during fertile window?

We have 3 tiny children. We're definitely done. DH went to the GP for a vasectomy referral, came back with printouts about me getting the coil Hmm We're going back ASAP. In the meantime we're using condoms.

Needless to say, I feel like having sex when I ovulate. Pretty normal I guess when off hormonal contraception. Am I being naive to think this is ok for x months until we sort the snip? Getting pregnant again would be a disaster but I don't think I could bring myself to have a termination. I get pregnant very easily and I've had twins so I guess it could happen again. Am I playing with fire?

When I read about vasectomy appointments on here it does proper piss me off the differing advice people get.
I am 35 weeks pregnant with DC2. I am 26 and DH is 27, we've been together 10 years.
DH went to his GP 2 weeks ago and asked for a vasectomy, they asked if he was sure, discusses reversal, side effects and that there are more temporary measures for "the wife" to take.
He told them it had been discussed as a couple, we knew what we wanted and I had been in charge of contraception, had 2 difficult pregnancies one C section and another one planned for a few weeks time, they referred him right there and then.
Got an letter through the post a few days later and the operation is booked for 8th May, 13 days after my c section.
Same as usual, sick of people having to fight GPs who think they know better.
We don't want more kids, don't have room for more kids, don't have the money for more kids, always said only 2, and if something did go wrong I don't think I could have an abortion.
So that leaves us with a more permanent method needed.

@Scottishgirl85 children are generally more expensive than condoms. Just saying... you should never save on rubber ;) be it condoms or tires ;)

I realise my thread title was slightly confusing. We're using condoms every single time, but I worry that might not be enough during my fertile window (which coincidentally is when I tend to instigate sex more).
