Frustrated with tenants?

thankunextex · 25/03/2019 10:13

I’m trying to view a house and the tenants have refused to let me view it both times. Appointments been booked in advance and then they say it’s not a good time an hour before.

I get it if you don’t want to actually leave the property (not sure if that’s the situation or not) but I’m just being messed around now.

OP posts:

Tomtontom

I am not taking the piss as you charmingly put it, but to clarify:
rents usually barely cover mortgage payments + agency fees + insurance + contingency/upgrade costs.
You seem to think that the rents go straight into the landlord holiday fund, it's not exactly true is it.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/03/2019 16:24

Complain on here, is what I meant. In reference to the post stating she has no right to be annoyed as it has nothing to do with her. Of course she has the right to be pissed off. She hasn't done anything wrong here.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 16:25

I did not call for a broken lightbulb like some posters did to be fair

How silly, nobody calls for that. I’m talking major repairs, like a ceiling falling in because the upstairs shower was done by some incompetent.

ColeHawlins · 25/03/2019 16:26

Look at the thread title. She's blaming the wrong people.

pootyisabadcat · 25/03/2019 16:26

You do realise that most landlords do not make a profit from the rents?

Who gives a gram of fuck? That's their lookout. Hmm

thedisorganisedmum · 25/03/2019 16:27

JessicaWakefieldSVH
you missed some of the threads, people do call for broken lightbulbs
or broken toilet seats Grin

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 16:27

If that isn't enough to make a profit after the landlord has complied with all the legal obligations, he should do something else and not whine that other people aren't sufficiently funding his lifestyle any more.

^ exactly. Nobody is a landlord to help out society, it’s for profit.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 16:28

Well why would a tenant buy a toilet seat for someone else’s house?

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 16:29

This potential buyers complaint, is with the EA or LL. The tenant has no relationship with a potential buyer whatsoever.

ColeHawlins · 25/03/2019 16:29

Well why would a tenant buy a toilet seat for someone else’s house?

Probably those crazy tenants who think they own the place Wink

mummmy2017 · 25/03/2019 16:31

Landlords normally make the profits on the rise in house prices over time...

thedisorganisedmum · 25/03/2019 16:32

If that isn't enough to make a profit after the landlord has complied with all the legal obligations, he should do something else

like putting the rent up?

Sashkin · 25/03/2019 16:36

Jessica that was a specific thread where the tenants had broken the toilet seat four times in one month because they were doing something weird to it (it involved swinging around on it and flushing the toilet multiple times, sounded bizarre and possibly a MH-related ritual). Consensus was that if the tenant wanted to misuse the toilet seat, they would have to replace it when it broke.

If you think the rent is too high, may I suggest renting something cheaper?

Unfortunately all the council houses have been flogged to BTL landlords, who have ratcheted up the rent to the maximum the market will tolerate, so that’s no longer an option.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/03/2019 16:38

Why is she cross with the wrong people? They are the ones that keep preventing her viewing

SarahAndQuack · 25/03/2019 16:41

Well, she doesn't know if it's their fault, does she?

pootyisabadcat · 25/03/2019 16:41

Why is she cross with the wrong people? They are the ones that keep preventing her viewing

They don't have to allow viewings at all. It's the LL's lookout to flog the property, if he/she's got tenants in it who won't allow viewings then the LL has to get them out first. Tough.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/03/2019 16:42

I'm well aware of that. But it is human nature to be frustrated at being messed around multiple times FFS

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/03/2019 16:44

If the agent phones and cancels an hour before because the tenants have said no then it's fair for her to assume that it is down to them. That's not to say they don't have the right to do so, but I can well imagine it is annoying.

pootyisabadcat · 25/03/2019 16:45

But it is human nature to be frustrated at being messed around multiple times FFS

Again, she's frustrated at the wrong people Hmm. They probably didn't even know about the viewing because everyone knows EAs lie, they're lazy bastards who likely never bothered to inform the tenant of any viewing and just chanced their arm.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/03/2019 16:46

But she may not be, you're assuming the agents are lying. They may not be. Who knows.

Lizzie48 · 25/03/2019 16:46

I wish the OP would answer the question why she's so desperate to see the property. There must be other properties that would suit her.

pootyisabadcat · 25/03/2019 16:47

My guess is the EA never bothered to inform the tenant and chanced it. They do this all the fucking time! It's well known they do this.

pootyisabadcat · 25/03/2019 16:49

Yep, I definitely assume agents lie. They're famous for it. So find another property to buy. Breaks out violins.

thedisorganisedmum · 25/03/2019 16:50

question why she's so desperate to see the property. There must be other properties that would suit her.

or maybe there isn't, and why shouldn't the OP try to view a property currently on the market?Confused

SarahAndQuack · 25/03/2019 16:52

I'm not assuming the agents are lying, but I did notice the OP hasn't responded to questions about whether she actually knows if the tenants knew in advance.

I agree it's human nature to be fed up, and I would be too, but I'd also try to figure out what was going on. Apart from anything else, she might get a better response if she knew why the tenants keep cancelling.
