Make me want to scream with rage?!

No Sandra I don't care that you eat 17 muller lights a week and yes I hate you lady on the end who's eaten a Chinese 3 times and still lost 5lb.

I hate diet culture, I hate that it mostly preys on people's insecurities and mostly leaves you feeling like crap but I also for the sake of my health want to lose 3st and I really struggle.

Now I also weight train and eat much more real food - it does work

Me too!! (Waves!!)

Another vote for Team RH from me too. The only time I have seen anything backed by a that science rather than made up syns/points, and also not about starving yourself on 1200 calls a day.

MrsElbadrama · 17/03/2019 20:37

Or Mary who hasnt been able to lose weight because she has been having her kitchen done for 6 months

How is there always one in every group?!

I haven't heard of Noom, or RH will look those up.

I know people who swear by 5:2 so intrigued by this & the Fast 800. Thing is I'm actually a bitch if I don't eat for 4/5 hours and then go straight for sugar so worried this style would exacerbate that.

The person who spoke about intuitive eating (sorry I don't know how to tag people Confused) that's exactly what I feel like I want. No diet really just, eating in a really balanced way. But then I guess a lot of people would say you've got to put real work in to see results.

Stop dieting and start eating healthily. Eat a bit of things you like but not too much!
I am "dieting" and lost 1 stone in 12 weeks (was only 9.5 stone so not huge). I just didn't eat shit all the time. Have a decent breakfast, lunch dinner. A snack at 10am, a snack at 3pm and do some exercise. Today I ate 2 jaffa cakes, some wotsits and a few pieces of chocolate. I don't care because I only do it every week or two not every day!

mumofamenagerie · 17/03/2019 20:44

I lost 2 stone by getting a FitBit and making sure my calories in were less than my calories out. I've maintained it for 2 years by doing the same. The FitBit outlay was cheaper than WW or SW would have been over this period!

Winchestermom35 · 17/03/2019 20:45

Have also heard very good things about team RH.

MrsElbadrama · 17/03/2019 20:46

FFS just realised the typo in the post title too.

Yes I think the not eating crap would help!!

I have a fit bit, I'm going to try and add more walking into my routine to start with. I realise it's not the same as running or going to the gym but at the mo I feel too unfit for much else

melissasummerfield · 17/03/2019 20:51

I was a SWer for 5 years, lost the same 4 stone 3 times Blush i kept getting pregnant Shock

After my 3rd baby i went back again and i realised the room was full of the same people, and it dawned on me that there is surely something wrong with that!

I switched to calorie counting and exercising because sometimes i just want a crumpet for breakfast Wink its completly mad that you can have a full english for ‘free’ but not a crumpet

Im much happier now and on track with my weight loss in a way that i will just continue when i get to where i want to be.

Siameasy · 17/03/2019 20:54

The Obesity Code is on my list
Why We Get Fat is good too
I’m not on FB but the RH thing sounds doable and MFP can be really useful to see what you’re really eating
I follow the Low Carb Bootcamp on here so take a look at that if it floats your boat

Iamclearlyamug · 17/03/2019 21:03

Just read this and signed up to RH fitness - already nervous and I haven't done anything yet 🙈🙈 what are the workouts like? even the WORD workout makes me think nope can't do it 😂😂 I'm very active at work (20-25k steps per day) but clearly that's not enough because I can't even see my foof when I look down 😂😂😂

SnappedandFartedagain · 17/03/2019 21:09

With the Noom app you add your Fitbit and it takes the data and incorporates it into your programme. I hate to sound evangelical but Noom has completely changed the way I think about food. It requires total accountability too, which I need. It’s the best money I ever spent.

42isthemeaning · 17/03/2019 21:10

I did lose weight with SW a few years back but piled it on. I also lost weight using MFP, but again, lost my mojo and piled it on again. I've read Michael Mosley's books, books about intuitive eating, mindful eating, started and stopped c25k (even did a race for life - running!) started and stopped wi fit, Zumba and bought and hardly used a cross trainer. I tried the 30 day shred and never again. (Lasted one day). I'm mid forties and I feel like my tummy has just got bigger and bigger. I dare not weigh myself but I feel so uncomfortable with the roll of fat in my belly. I have a job which sees me working late and at home and have 2 dc. I eat food as a comfort and I don't know how to stop and feel better. My mh is suffering as a result. Help! Sorry op for jumping into your thread but it struck a chord with me!

I really like WW. I tried two different SW clubs and HATED the environment and how it made me feel. WW (for me) has been very welcoming and supportive.

MrsElbadrama · 17/03/2019 21:20

42 don't apologise, I feel exactly the same

dressinggowndonna · 17/03/2019 21:23

Woohoo I have finally found my people, this is the first time I've comes across other team RH members on mn! OP I cannot recommend it enough, I've gone from eating 1200 Cals a day per My fitness pal, to 2000. That's based on 10,000 steps a day and 0 workouts a week (I do go to the gym when possible but not regularly enough to up my cals). The plan seems very alien at first, especially if you are used to slimming clubs, but trust Richie and Rachel and you will realise it works (I faffed around half heartedly for my first 3 months and regret it now!). Plus at £4.99 a month it's what you pay weekly for some slimming clubs.

BuffaloCauliflower · 17/03/2019 21:47

Thing is I'm actually a bitch if I don't eat for 4/5 hours and then go straight for sugar so worried this style would exacerbate that.

This is very likely because your blood sugar is being raised by carbs you’re eating and then crashing, making you hungry and reaching for more sugar. A high protein, high fat diet won’t raise and crash your insulin levels like this, after a few days you’ll probably find you’re much less hungry and have less need for snacks.

Haworthia · 17/03/2019 21:49

I tried 5:2 and found it utterly miserable. The science made sense, but it wasn’t for me.

Low carb was a revelation though. Have a look at the low carb bootcamp subforum.

thenightsky · 17/03/2019 21:50

But surely they don't actually want you to lose weight long term as then they'd be out of customers Confused

rockingthelook · 17/03/2019 22:05

Hated SW, people sitting around clapping because you've lost a pound, as Peter Kaye said once 'I've shit a pound!', I went to WW, lost a lot of weight, tbh a bit too much after listening to the leader saying a few more pounds, get you under target to 'give me a bit of leeway' However since I left, put on a bit of weight I look healthier than ever, bought a good set of scales and eat unprocessed foods in smaller portion sizes, not heaps of yogurts, rice, pasta etc because the diet allows it, nor do I eat cakes made out of high fibre crispbreads, cakes made out of chickpeas etc, if I want cake I have a piece, either a smaller piece or the size I want and cut down on something else later. I still have a bit of an indulgence at the weekend, takeaway and drinks, but then watch what I consume the rest of the week.Clubs like this can help by ensuring you get weighed every week in public, but once you've got where you want to be, leave, save your money, move more , eat realistically , especially unprocessed foods and you will stay slim and healthy

GreatWesternValkyrie · 17/03/2019 22:12

I can highly recommend MyFitnessPal Op, I’ve lost a lot of weight in the last 9 months using that - the idea of going to a club each week to talk about food and syns and weight loss (or lack of it) seemed likely to put me off rather than encourage me.

It depends on how someone is motivated I guess, I really liked having an app that calculates calories/carbs etc so I can adjust my day to keep within my goals and it shows me a lovely graph of all that lost weight. I’m such a nerd, but I’m a slimmer nerd 😀 (I got a Fitbit a while back, so can nerd out over the uploaded stats in MFP from that too!)

Hotterthanahotthing · 17/03/2019 22:34

I'm trying WW on line.I need to loose a few stone but be cooking only once for myself and my willowy teen.It really seems to be a low carb, fat diet so far but easy to adapt our usual food into but without DD dieting too.
It's only working slowly as due to being ill I am not doing more moving yet.It is only working because I am motivated and I have only really dieted once before about 20 years ago and it's taken that long and a pregnancy to put it back on .
I couldn't do classes though.

justaweeone · 17/03/2019 22:39

Try this

He's not everyone's cup of tea🤣
But he is fab and he does take the 'bullshit' out of the fitness industry.

MrsPinkCock · 17/03/2019 22:46

Another Team RH fan here.

I’m what most people would consider slim but realistically I’m still a bit skinny fat.

SW and WW - I lost weight. Not fat. Weight. It all went back on because I didn’t build muscle, I lost it, and fucked my metabolism.

Now I’m lighter, have lost 10% of my body fat and gained muscle and it’s brill. And eating 1,600 cals a day at a now size 8.

You have to do some exercise though. Just steps will do.

Once you’ve joined you’ll realise how much BS is involved with all other diets.

Calzone · 17/03/2019 22:51

@mrspinkcock

How did you lose weight?

MrsPinkCock · 18/03/2019 00:06

@Calzone

I lost weight with both WW and SW.

But I got way better shape from Team RH!
