For my lunch to get me this excited?

So.... lunch for me is usually a ham sandwich. It's fairly boring and predictable and is usually accompanied by a bag of walkers ready salted.

Today it's marinated chicken on a pitta and honestly, I feel like a new woman. It feels exotic... even though it's actually just last nights leftovers heated up and shoved into a pitta from Tesco.

AIBU to feel so excited for having a different type of meat on a different type of bread?!!
What's everyone else got for lunch today?

I am now craving a battered sausage butty with ketchup.

However, I have had a ham and low fat cheese sandwich, on Kingsmill thin bread, a yoghurt and an apple. And I'm still hungry! Grin

timberwolf79 · 13/03/2019 13:58

I had bacon (from yesterday's dinner) in two slices of thick slice Hovis wholemeal with ketchup and butter and some tomatoes in balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

This is unreasonable.

Embrace the chicken!

rosesandcashmere · 13/03/2019 14:02

Half a tub of fresh pea and mint soup which was depressingly high in weight watchers points and a chunk of Waitrose seeded pave. I'm hungry again.

Eliza9917 · 13/03/2019 14:03

I had a lighter life 200 calorie fasting pot.

It was nice though. Chicken ramen flavour.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/03/2019 14:07

I don’t work on a Wednesday so had Heinz beans on wholemeal toast, topped with mature cheddar. I’ve just cooked chorizo and red pepper pasta for tonight, so will bring leftovers to work tomorrow.

gustofwind · 13/03/2019 14:08

Leftovers here!

Did sausage (Heck chicken) and new potatoes last night, so I've whacked them in the microwave with a small tin of beans.

Bloody delish!

SleepingIsOverrated · 13/03/2019 14:10

@Eliza9917 consider me embracing Grin

I'm home today so had some random leftovers - a bit of Spanish chicken from Monday and a bit of sweet potato curry from yesterday, with a wholemeal tortilla which didn't do as good a job of soaking up the juices as I had hoped. You've inspired me to make tomorrow's packed lunch now while DS2 is asleep. I wonder if I can do it before he wakes up?

CJDoesTheJackal · 13/03/2019 14:18

I'm just eating my lunch and I generally have the same thing daily whether I'm at home or at work and I look forward to it so much and it never disappoints:-

Wholemeal flatbread
2 x boiled eggs with a little salt, or some cold chicken or cold beef
Large pot of chopped mixed bell peppers/cucumber/red grapes
Back of Snack a Jacks (salt & vinegar)
Small chocolate bar (usually a caramel Freddo)

I'm tracking calories and macros at the moment and losing weight and I'm eating so much!

My two teenage boys have the same lunch except bagel instead of flatbread, and never eggs.

SleepingIsOverrated · 13/03/2019 14:19

Good luck @bluechameleon, although if he's anything like my DS he will have woken up before you even finished typing that Grin

Some of your lunches sound delicious. I'm feeling inspired.

I've just had a chip buttie but with a cheese scone instead of bread. It was yum although obviously not the healthiest!

GooodMythicalMorning · 13/03/2019 14:22

cold cauliflower cheese on onion bread

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 13/03/2019 14:25

I really need to start putting more effort into my lunch. I had a boring cheese sandwich.

AudTheDeepMinded · 13/03/2019 14:27

I had some marmite flatbread things with cut up carrot and cucumber and some smoked humous. I'm taking part in a nutrition study and have to fast for periods of time, so I was bloody starving and literally inhaled it. Looking forward to tea already!

theonetowalkinthesun · 13/03/2019 14:27

My first 5:2 day today! Having breakfast and dinner instead of lunch. Feels weird!

fleshmarketclose · 13/03/2019 14:30

I've had a cold roast beef sandwich with a handful of cherry tomatoes and a slice of fruitcake that I made earlier in the week.

Millimollimandi · 13/03/2019 14:32

I had 2 ham rolls - which is really decadent as I don't normally eat bread, I usually have 4 corn cakes and a pack of lentil crisps - so your 'boring' lunch is my bit of excitement - it's all relative Grin

SunnySideDownUp · 13/03/2019 14:38

I hear you! I splashed out on chorizo and had a chorizo omelette. I'm sure it was masterchef worthy.

KingLooieCatz · 13/03/2019 14:43

Loving everybody's lunch stories.

I went mad and have had microwaved sweet potato (monopolized the work microwave for 10 minutes, had to wait till after peak time) with coronation chickpeas to a recipe I got off of BBCGoodFood. The coronation sauce was mostly low fat Greek yoghurt and you literally just mix all the ingredients. No cooking involved. I was super stoked.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 13/03/2019 14:54

I was let down by Pret today, had their Greek salad baguette, very disappointing. Serves me right for bigging them up on this thread!

ThatFalseEquivalenceTho · 13/03/2019 14:56

Hash browns with Heinz Mexican beans and loads of cheese here.

I’m studying at home and I cba.

SleepingIsOverrated · 13/03/2019 15:08

@KingLooieCatz we should make it a weekly thing, with photos Grin

Treaclepie19 · 13/03/2019 16:24

@KingLooieCatz totally making those chickpeas!

LoopyLou1981 · 13/03/2019 16:34

Should not have started reading this when starving on my way home!
Yesterday’s lunch was good though. Poached eggs, pita bread, tomatoes and ham. All nicely WW pointed when I here ‘I have eggs mummy...I like eggs’. Lost at least half an egg to the youngest and the eldest ‘helped’ with the ham.
