To ask what vitamins you take?

I am feeling so rough at the moment and no help from the doctor regarding it. I have been looking into vitamins and trying to decide if any might be beneficial. What vitamins do you take and have you had a noticeable improvement after taking them?

High levels of vitamin D, I was ill a few years ago & had very low vit d levels, which may have led to other conditions. I do notice the difference if I don’t take it

Scaredofthedark1986 · 09/03/2019 18:54

Thank you nancy. Vitamin D is something I am considering. I currently take 800IU but have noticed no difference so I’m wondering if I should take more. I take that and a basic multivitamin.

I take 3 of these a day, so 6000iu every day but I do seem to have a problem creating my own vit d as if I stop my levels drop dramatically

800iu vitamin D
5mg folic acid
644mg ferrous fumerate

SushiForBreakfast · 09/03/2019 19:05

A multivitamin tablet and an omega oil tablet. It could be the placebo effect but I do "feel" better for taking both of these. (My skin has especially improved since I started taking omega oil tablets.)

Whydoesshedoitffs · 09/03/2019 19:05

I take

4000iu Vit D
B Complex
Multivit
Fish oil
Glucosamine

They make a difference to me, particularly the glucosamine and vitamin D.

Cocolepew · 09/03/2019 19:08

Vitamin D3
Magnesium
And a herb , ashwagandha. It's been very good at helping me deal with stress and anxiety.

poorbuthappy · 09/03/2019 19:10

I take fake Aldi berrocca and a mineral tablet

DontCallMeShitley · 09/03/2019 19:11

Vit D (spray)
B Complex (liquid) but not daily
Magnesium, also not daily

dramaqueen · 09/03/2019 19:14

Vit D (spray)
B12 (spray)
Multi vit
Calcium
EPO/Starflower (combined)

AwkwardSquad · 09/03/2019 19:16

I take vit D3, ferrous fumerate on prescription and Berocca. Started the ferrous fumerate and Berocca about two weeks ago and already have a bit more energy.

AwkwardSquad · 09/03/2019 19:17

Oh and ground flaxseed for the omegas.

mymugmytea · 09/03/2019 19:18

Cod liver oil + vitamin D combined capsule

Echinacea over the winter (havnt had a cold for years)

Occasional Vit C/Zinc effervescent tablet

polloppllo · 09/03/2019 19:25

Equi London powder. Absolute game changer.

NannyRed · 09/03/2019 19:28

None! I eat a healthy and varied diet and don’t need to line the pockets of some fat cats.

I worked in medicine for 20+ years, one of my specialist told me “ if you eat fish and cheese and like marmite, there’s not much else you can do to improve your diet”

Ellieboolou27 · 09/03/2019 19:31

Iron - not the crappy stuff from the shelf, proper industrial ones. Vit B6 as helps with my PMT

Ellieboolou27 · 09/03/2019 19:33

Agree with nanny but without iron supplements I go dangerously low, despite eating iron rich foods

slipperywhensparticus · 09/03/2019 19:34

I need supplements 🤷‍♀️ magnesium at the moment

SB1013 · 09/03/2019 19:35

Nanny I never believed in vitamins until I was falling asleep mid afternoon and had a blood test which showed how low my folic acid and vitamin D levels are. I have a varied balanced diet so wouldn't have thought I needed vitamins. Dr recommended 10000IU a week to get me up to speed and A folic acid supplement. It has made a difference

Tavannach · 09/03/2019 19:36

Holland and Barrett Super One multi vitamin.

Chouetted · 09/03/2019 19:41

Vitamin D, and I've felt so much better for it. i can't say it's been a miracle cure, but my muscles are stronger, and I'm less achey and tired at night.

But high levels of Vitamin D can be dangerous, so I'd get your current levels checked first before taking any more. I was severely deficient, so I've had to take quite a lot of it to get to where I am now.

Ansumpasty · 09/03/2019 19:44

Garlic (Allicin Max)
Vitamin c + zinc
Occasional b complex
Vitamin D
CBD oil

Scaredofthedark1986 · 09/03/2019 19:47

This is all really helpful. I have booked a private vitamin d test that is carried out at an nhs hospital laboratory so should be reliable and will be waiting for the results of that before I decide to up my vitamin D. My symptoms do seem to fit with a vitamin D deficiency or possibly iron but my actual blood tests for iron come back ok.

Decent multivitamin (Natures Best multigiard I think, you want decent b12 and Vit D at least), omega 3 and Starflower oil for the crazy hormones.

Chouetted · 09/03/2019 19:51

@scaredofthedark1986 Sounds like the same place I get mine tested, they're pretty good.
